Pointe-Noire is the economic capital of the Republic of Congo, located in the far south of the country. Located inthe west of Africa, on the Atlantic coast, the city constitutes the natural outlet of a preponderant axis of communication between Central Africa and international waters; as such, the city represents for the Republic of Congo an economic lung fed by the activity of the Djeno oil terminal and its deep water port1.

With more than 1.1 million inhabitants in the agglomeration, Pointe-Noire, also called Ponton La Belle or Ndindji, was the former capital of Middle Congo during the colonial era and of the department of Kouilou at the time of l 'independence ; now separate from the latter, it has become a full-fledged department divided into six districts.
