Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Newly renovated in July 2016, this artfully-appointed and spacious two bedroom flat is located in one of Pittsburgh's most architecturally rich, historic, and ideally-located neighborhoods.
Within walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops, stadiums (both PNC Park and Acrisure Stadium), downtown, Stage AE, The Warhol Museum, Mattress Factory, Allegheny General Hospital, Point State Park, The National Aviary, and more (all within a 5-10 min walk).
Premium HD 65” smart tv w/ streaming, hjgh speed Wifi, & Marshall bluetooth speaker included.
Our spacious two-bedroom apartment is located in Allegheny West, on Pittsburgh's Northside.
Officially the smallest neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Allegheny West is home to 19th century architecture characteristic of the gilded industrial era.
Originally named Allegheny City, the neighborhood was considered the gold coast of the region, and stood among the wealthiest in the world before annexation by Pittsburgh in 1907.
Built in the 1870s, our townhouse is part of a historic row house district. Many of the original floor beams, as well as exposed brick, were preserved during the renovation.
Ceilings were restored to their 12 foot height throughout the living room and kitchen, while lofted ceilings were constructed in the bedrooms.
The neighborhood is home to a mix of eclectic businesses and historic sites, including a local bookstore, bars, an excellent Thai restaurant, Peppi's legendary cheese steaks ("home of the RoethlisBurger"), the Jones Mansion, and the birthplace of writer and poet Gertrude Stein on Beech Street.
Nearby is Allegheny Commons, a beautiful and peaceful city park. We hope you enjoy the setting as much as we do!
Guest Access: our second floor apartment is accessible through the rear door of the building (private entrance). Keypad code is provided upon booking for convenient access.
Pittsburgh has been our beloved adopted city for over 10 years. We're happy to provide recommendations for everything from the best bars to the city's broader cultural, artistic, and scenic destinations.
The apartment is accessible via keyless code entry, and the code is provided on the day of arrival. We are readily available to answer any questions and address any concerns throughout your stay. Let us know if you need anything!
Free guest parking permit is included in rental (for parking on back street, Beech St). Plus, inexpensive metered street parking is available in front (on Western Ave, the street in front of our building).
Our free parking permit works great for Steelers game day, Pirates games, and stadium events (including concerts). We are located within a short walking distance of stadiums— so close that the parking lot across the street is used for fans and charges $45-65 to park on game day, making the free parking parking pass that is included in this rental a huge plus!
Getting Around: Our apartment is centrally located within walking distance to bus and light-rail lines, as well as a city-sponsored bike rental station (1 block from our place).
Lovely! Clean, comfortable, modern & great locale for a variety of activities. Walking distance to a variety of good restaurants, breweries, stadiums & easy access to miles of bike trails. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We look forward to returning. Thanks, Jeb & Alissa! Much appreciated.
My wife and I thouroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful townhouse, great location, quite street that is so close to the park and Atrium you will marvel!!!! We have a rather older (licensed) Service Dog who stayed on the main level due to the many steps of the stairs, but even he loved the townhouse! What great hosts, answered all my weird questions imediately with ablomb. 100% recommend. Pittsburgh is a wonderful city and this neighborhood is perfect!!! The Culhane's.
My family & I enjoyed our return to Pittsburgh immensely. We heard about the festivities of Picklesburgh when our student was an undergrad. I chose this apartment based on location to the fun & how nice the interior pictures of the apartment were. Jeb & Alissa didn’t disappoint. The apartment was immaculate & cosy. Plenty of cookware was provided to make cooking hassle free. Cookware, spices, and lots of cooking tools. It sounds simple, but not all owners do this. The beds were comfy and the linen sheets were a nice touch. I enjoyed using the record player during downtime. The Clash, Stevie Nicks, Bob Seger. It was really fun to put the needle on a record like in the days of my youth. There were plenty of dining options that are walkable. Happy Days Ice Cream, Refucilo Wine Bar, Nicky’s Thai Kitchen. Wonderful outdoor dining area at Nicky’s- if you can eat outside do it. There was a park across the street which was good for nightly walks. Family friendly, and lots of spots to sit and people watch. We saw an engagement photo shoot one night. We enjoyed our time in the apartment very much. Jeb and Alissa offered a lovely getaway. Instructions for everything pertaining to our stay were very clear & easy to follow. I’d definitely come back in the fall (Phipps has a lovely Christmas display) or maybe I could time it right to see the Phillies v Pirates next summer. Memories were made, and pickle sorbet was enjoyed.
Totally delightful and beautiful! Very quite, quaint and feels like home away from home! Close to downtown and the area has little local spots to grab a quick bite. Park across the street was lovely to walk through and it was a nice surprise to see a train go through. From walking to a quick Uber, this was a wonderful location! Thank you for letting my daughter and I stay at your home. -Bob
This is a beautifully appointed apt. The location is great but getting to it is not. We arrived after dark (flight delays) & it was hard to find the entrance. Parking is a half block away, but you can unload next to the building. (Quickly, before neighbor comes out yelling that you can't park there!) 18 steep steps to main living area, 16 more steep steps to 2 bedrooms & bath. No cable TV, only streaming. Although this is a very nicely furnished, spotlessly clean VRBO, it is not for the faint of heart, elderly or anyone with walking issues.
Thank you to our hosts for providing such a beautiful space to call home while we visited Pittsburgh. We were a family of four (kids 4 and 8) who came to the City from the Toronto area to see the Blue Jays at PNC Park. We loved the nearby park and proximity to Children’s museum and stadiums. We had a great lunch at Peppi’s (cash only). As other visitors have commented, there are a lot of stairs in the apartment so could be an issue for someone with mobility limitations (wasn’t an issue for us). Jeb was quick to help with a parking issue we had. Stadiums are walkable in about 10 minutes. We hope to return again some day. Highly recommend this apartment!
Beautiful property, meticulously maintained. Location is very good with many walkable options nearby and a slightly longer, easy walk to the stadiums. Also parking was a breeze about a block away. Can't say enough good things about this property. Individual owner (not a management company) so you'll get an extra level of care and attention.
We were in town for college visits and enjoyed this lovely apartment during our downtime.
Highly recommend! We were in Pittsburgh for a football game and the location couldn't be better! A quick walk to the stadium with lots of restaurants and bars nearby.
Great location on the North Shore, 15 minute walk to Heinz Field, easy walk to downtown. Apartment is very nice and comfortable. We love Pittsburgh so it is a great place to walk everywhere.
The place is as beautiful as in the pictures with very controlled interior design. We loved hanging out on the sofa with the window half open to hear all going-ons on the street beneath. The location is very nice and convenient. The park ist right there to the left and the quaint neighbourhood with restaurants, bars, coffee shops to the right. Everything is walkable. The greater area offers the Andy Warhol Museum, the Mattress Factory, the Carnegie Science Museum and three stadiums. We decided against a car and moved by foot, bus (the main line over to the other side leaves just a 7 min walk through the park away) and the occasional Uber. We also joined Union Fitness (they offer week passes) which was a 10 min walk. Some people have complained about the entrance in the back and the lack of lighting. True, but we managed and it does offer a more protected way to leave and enter the building. It is also kind of romantic with all the plants :-) The only limitation is the rather small bathroom/toilet. The shower is nice and big, but just one sink an no separate toilet makes getting out of the house for 3 adults challenging. When we come back next spring to visit our son at CMU, we might try and rent this place again, despite it being a long way away from the universities. It just felt so much like a home.
