The apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Plenty of room to stretch out and relax. The view was wonderful. Saw plenty of wildlife both to/from the apartment and in the yard early mornings. The hosts were very sweet and helpful. I strongly recommend this place to anyone traveling to the Black Hills!
This worked well for our short stay and was well equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed having the grill and propane fire right outside the door with plenty of chairs. Location was important and this was ideal. Not a drive I would enjoy on a motorcycle but if you are in a car, this is a very nice setting and affordable. The property description is accurate.
Cozy lower level apartment. My kids and I loved our stay. We liked the remoteness of the property-beautiful drive through the hills
The good: the location was great! Close to Mt Rushmore and only about 25 minutes from Rapid City and the airport. This apartment is definitely a good ‘home base’. The towels were awesome! The bad: the communication with the owners was not great. I guess there were some health issues, but I would have expected to be given a different number to communicate with if there were issues. A hot tub is listed as an amenity, but it was dirty and totally unacceptable (yes, I did reach out to the homeowner first before posting this). The temperature is controlled by the owners who live upstairs in the house. The apartment is a converted walk out basement. The only door was a slider that had ripped screens, so if you wanted to get fresh air in the apartment, you also got flies. Overall, we didn’t feel comfortable and didn’t really use any of the other outdoor amenities, just from the lack of communication/friendliness of the owners.
This home was located near many of the attractions we wanted to see (generally within 15 min. of most) while staying in the Black Hills, yet was quiet and secluded for a peaceful end to our busy days. My girls enjoyed the hot tub and Corgis very much! The home was clean and had most amenities we needed, minus an oven and coffee (but there was a coffeemaker). Overall, it was a comfortable stay and we would recommend to others.
This was a wonderful place to stay during our roaptrip to the Black Hills! It was the perfect central location for all our activities while we were there, and it was so nice to come home to after a long day. We especially loved that the baby monitor signal reached the Hot Tub, making it a perfect parent getaway after bedtime!
My family and I had a great time on our trip to the Black Hills. This little getaway was the perfect central location for all our activities, and offered a lot of fun amenities to come home and relax with. Our favorite was that the hottub was in range of the baby monitor, making it the perfect Parent Getaway in the evenings after our kiddos went to bed. The recently added private gas fire pit was also a wonderful way to keep warm while watching the stars at night!
Check in process was easy. The property was clean and had everything you need for a cozy stay. We loved the outdoor amenities and hospitality. Close to everything we wanted to see and was so nice to return after a long day to relax, cook dinner, sit in the hot tub & roast s’mores around the campfire. Our 7 year old loved seeing the dogs as well! Would stay here again!
Nice & quiet location to use as our home base while we road trails. And the hot tub was a relaxing end to our day.
We loved our stay in this beautiful house, decorated so fun in western style. It sure would accommodate a big family. It was 5 miles from Custer State Park and really close to all the tourist activities and sightseeing. We did a lot of great hikes in Custer and Spearfish. The owners were responsive. There were deer outside the bedroom window every morning. And of course, the turkeys! I would stay here again.
The house was beautiful and within minutes to Custer State park and close to all the things to see and do. We saw deer every morning out the window and turkeys. I would stay there again.
This turned out to be a lovely spot for our stay in S. Dakota. It was close to Custer State Park, where we spent quite a bit of time, but also to the more touristy attractions such as Mount Rushmore. We loved the darkness that gave us a good vantage for stargazing and the overall quiet of the neighborhood. In the mornings, there were wild turkeys and deer roaming in the yard. In the evenings, the hot tub was a nice respite after hiking and horseback riding. We found the kitchen to be well-equipped for our needs, with a full-size refrigerator, a two-burner electric stove and, most importantly, a coffeemaker. The toaster oven and microwave were also essential! The corgi-breeding operation afforded me the rare opportunity to hold a 2-week old puppy. Pretty special!
Great space and location. Very clean and comfy. The only problem was that there wasn’t an oven and the grill was in poor working order. Made it hard to make meals.
