Stayed Aug 22, 2025The property was in a quiet area which was nice, clean, modern and sunny as listed and walkable to most of our favorite spots to visit (Breweries and the Rhu for breakfast). but also directly across the street from the homeless shelter. When we arrived early (around 11am) the whole block was lined with homeless people and a police car at the end of the block. I thought oh no what did I get myself into? When we returned to the property at check in time 3pm the street was for the most part empty and remained that way for the rest of the weekend from what I could tell (we leave the property early and come home late). We were not bothered by the few who remained but I did feel saddened and a little uneasy. I am unsure if I would book the property again but it did serve our purpose to visit and explore Asheville.

Stayed Jul 2, 2025Great pet friendly property, close to downtown. Clean with all the home goods necessary for a “home away from home.” Our only complaint would be no area to let your pet run free, and situated next to what appeared to be the social services area of Asheville (i.e., appeared to be a methadone clinic / halfway house). That being said, no one bothered us.

Stayed Jun 20, 2025The property was great! Quaint, cute and clean. Perfect short walk to downtown. Stocked with the perfect amenities and necessities. We'll definitely book Downton Annie again. One small note about the parking... Super tight parking, but not much room for expansion, so it's understandable. Just be aware if you drive a midsize or larger.

Stayed Sep 22, 2024I read the reviews about being across from where the homeless congregate, which is fine. For the first couple of days that didn't impact our stay. The following morning we woke to an individual sleeping at the base of the stairs where we enter/exit the apartment. I contacted the host who did not reply for 3 hours. It felt very unsafe as this was also where our car was parked. The police eventually showed up, as did the county sheriff and a representative from the fire department to address the situation. Yes, there are No Trespassing signs but that is obviously an insufficient deterrent as the property is still openly accessible up to the entry doors. Surrounding properties have fences and gates which are not present on this property. There are exterior cameras but are obviously not monitored for trespassers. After the incident we were so shaken that we left 2 days before our check-out date. I contacted the host and requested a refund for one of those days. They denied the request immediately, and when I tried to explain further they ignored me and never responded again after multiple attempts.

Stayed Jul 17, 2024TERRIBLE: Parking, Car access and neighborhood Parking very narrow, requiring staying close to stone wall or a passing car wouldn’t be able to pass. Access: Due to house across the street, used to feed the homeless, cars, medical vehicles and police frequently park on Anne St. These cars make it difficult to enter and/or exit. The neighborhood is where the homeless sleep on the street or the sidewalk or even the driveway or below the staircases of the building next door. They are there all times of day. One renter in our building called the police when a man had a knife. There were frequent yelling and cursing situations between these people . Inside : The unit was very well appointed with modern furniture , clean appliances and a great floor plan . Once inside, all Was great. Sadly, the location ruined the visit and I was there a full month . Complaint to owners: the area they call a balcony is merely an entrance to the 2 units upstairs. No seating existed and if it did , it would be in the way of one of the 2 entrances. A balcony should not be included on the listing.

Stayed Jun 26, 2024We had a great time in Asheville. It was a great location for exploring in the mountains and walking around the city. The location is walkable to parts of the city but it’s on the outer edge so some walks were long. Everybody had plenty of room and everything we needed was provided.

Stayed May 16, 2024The property was very well stocked including sugar and coffee and filters in the pantry and a brita water filter full in the fridge! Easy walking distance to Downtown Asheville and Harrah’s venue. Please read the property description and note the location of the homeless services building that is diagonal to the property. The owners are very upfront about this in their ad. It is a day shelter and I don’t think that it is even open every day. There are members of the unhoused community there some during the day. At no point did I feel unsafe. I know a few reviews mention this but I wonder if what they really mean is that they were uncomfortable in the way we can all be when we see homelessness, mental illness or poverty. They are people just like the rest of us, they have just been given a different set of circumstances. Downtown Asheville is a probably the most dog friendly town I have been to with so many shops and restaurants welcoming friendly dogs. I also highly recommended visiting the River Arts district and plan to support many local artists. This was a great stay and I will definitely plan a trip back to Asheville at some point and will plan to stay at this same location if possible.
