Stayed Dec 31, 1969David and Fran are the perfect hosts giving you as much or as little interaction as you wish. Their home is wonderful. We stayed in the self catering apartment and found everything we needed there. It has its own entrance and patio space so you have your own privacy. The pool is shared and can be used whenever you like. We’ve had lots of lazy days at the pool and we’ve had it all to ourselves or chilled out with other guests and enjoyed their company. Their garden is so peaceful it is a pleasure to relax there and swim or read a book. David and Fran are very helpful with booking restaurants, giving travel advice, directions - you name it! We’ve enjoyed our time there so much we’ve been back again! And that’s the best recommendation we can give!! Xx

Stayed Dec 31, 1969What a wonderful break at Casa Della Scrittrice. Every day we were greeted by beautiful sunny weather and our fantastic hosts, David & Francesco, who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was a feast for the eyes, with fresh fruit and beautiful home-made cakes. The pool and grounds are magnificent and the location is perfect for the many beautiful surrounding Puglian white towns including Ostuni, Alberobello, Cisternino and Martina Franca. The rooms were perfect, being spotlessly clean and comfortable, and cool in the daytime heat. We will definitely visit again

Stayed Aug 1, 2018Where to start? We had a good feeling about this place from the moment we heard that there would be a welcome pack awaiting after our journey. It got the holiday off to the right start to arrive to a fresh pasta supper with tomatoes from the garden and enough food to see us through the first 24 hours - wonderful. We were able to start relaxing, enjoy the beautiful private terrace and take a swim in the fantastic pool before heading into Ostuni. The apartment was perfect - spotless, comfortable, stylish and well-equipped. We really appreciated the effective mosquito netting, plug-in deterrent etc. There was a really good fan but most of the time we were beautifully cool behind the shutters. The bed was super-comfortable. As well as having use of the pool and lovely area around it, our own secluded terrace was idyllic. We loved eating outside, sheltered from the sun, amid pot plants, ornamental glass jars and cushions, surrounded by lavender, olive trees and the cacti that are everywhere in the landscape. Villa Scriticce is about ten minutes from Ostuni - great market and wonderful restaurants. We also loved nearby towns Cisternino, Martina Franco and Locorotundo. We were so glad we decided to visit Lecce (only an hour by car) - truly a beautiful city. We should also praise the excellent directions as the villa is tucked away well off the main road. David and Francesco were so welcoming and friendly. Whilst being able to do our own thing completely, at the same time it was great to chat with them and find out local places to visit. They have created a very special place to stay. We hope to return one day. Thank you!

Stayed Jul 28, 2018David & Fran’s Trullo home is a magical place to stay in the middle of an olive grove. There are so many treasures to feast your eyes on every where you look. The stylish boutique hotel standard rooms are cool despite the heat outside. They are beautifully decorated & on this visit we had a small kitchenette which had everything we needed & gave us a bit more freedom & choice. The pool is a gorgeous place to sit or swim & very welcoming after a day of sightseeing. David & Fran are a wealth of local knowledge & are great company & hosts. All in all, it was an absolute pleasure.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969What an absolute Puglese dream! We were in the lovely B and B apartment for two nights and then moved into La Pineta for almost ten days as we wanted to cook for ourselves with the fabulous local ingredients. The B and B was a delight. Especially having breakfast on the terrace each morning with our wonderful hosts David and Francesco and their two extremely well-behaved and beautiful dogs Toby and Dita. Breakfast included the most delicious lemon seed cake on the planet and the last apricots from Francesco’s Nonna’s garden in Basilicata - which was just one example of the extreme generosity of our hosts. When we moved to La Pineta we were able to cook pastas and other local dishes in the kitchenette. It’s a spacious studio with plenty of room to lounge about in , whether in the shade of the private terrace or sunbathing in the private area of garden; every so often dipping in the lovely pool to cool off. We felt very relaxed there so spent quite a lot of time ‘at home” luxuriating in the perfumes of the lavender and jasmine and looking over the olive grove to the views beyond. Staying here gives you the opportunity to live like a local , off piste from the usual guidebook info, as David and Francesco have immense knowledge of the area - secret locations, markets and the best beaches and restaurants to go to. We arrived at La Pineta to an extremeky thoughtful welcome pack and a list of information which never failed us. The location is perfect for the beach, the beautiful towns of Ostuni, Ceglie and Locorotondo and it’s easy to get onto faster roads to Bari and Matera if you want to explore further. We totally recommend you stay here.

Stayed Aug 18, 2017At Casa della Scrittrice, Francesco and David have created the perfect destination to unwind and enjoy the Puglian experience, they are great hosts on hand if you need them but always respecting your privacy. La Pineta is a beautiful studio apartment, very well equipped with everything you need to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. A lovely welcome basket of food and wine was provided on our arrival and Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica were just a short drive away for great shopping and eating. We stayed just over two weeks and were able to explore the beautiful local beaches and towns nearby as well as taking time out to enjoy the pool and gardens that surround the house. We also had our own private patio and garden area where we could enjoy delicious local food bought from the markets or just relax with a book and glass of Prosecco - Very highly recommended - we will definitely be back.

Stayed Sep 6, 2017From the moment we arrived for the last few days of our holiday we were treated to a warm, welcoming and relaxing time. The hosts, David and Fran, provide everything you would ever need in their charming and rural villa. We stayed in the self-contained, self-catering apartment which is connected to their house. The pool is wonderful and the grounds have surprises at every turn. We must also mention the friendly menagerie of pets led by Toby the dog. David is English, Fran is Italian, and between the two they can provide answers to any questions you may have. We were treated to a sneak peek of their trulli house next door which is also available for rent and we'd recommend that as well. There's something for everyone here - if you want privacy you can have it, if you want to be part of the family you can have that too. Highly recommended.
