The residential building in which this apartment is located is part of a 15th century building which is accessed through a large stone courtyard. The facade, unique in its style, has decorations belonging to the rococo, defined as the most precious artistic period in Naples.

The building was originally owned by the Caracciolo marquises of Arena and together with the adjacent Palazzo Caracclo di Martina having an entrance from vico Sedil Capuano and not with other residences of the Caracciolo family in Capuana, constituted an important element of the establishment of the noble family in the Capuana area and of the decumanus major.
