In a tranquil village setting, 2 miles from the sandy beach at Paignton, these three adjoining single-storey holiday cottages, imaginatively converted from former farm buildings, retain splendid original roof beams and stone walls. Adjacent to the owner's home, around the same pretty courtyard garden with a pond and fountain, they are attractively furnished in ‘New England' style. The South Hams boasts the mildest climate in Britain. Paignton, 2 miles, and Torquay, 4 miles, has sailing, tennis and sports centre and coloured lights festoon the harbour by night. It has many good sandy beaches, giving it an almost Mediterranean feel. Inland is the medieval town of Totnes, with a castle and 16th-century buildings, and once a week, there is an Elizabethan and farmers' market. From the quayside, there are boat trips down the River Dart to Dartmouth; the South Devon Railway runs steam trains to Buckfastleigh and along the coast to Kingswear, opposite Dartmouth. Take a ferry across to visit Dartmouth with its array of shops and restaurants, take a walk around the castle and enjoy one of the tea shops for a Devon cream tea. Within easy reach is the spectacular Dartmoor National Park. There are many tourist attractions close by including Agatha Christie's summer home, Babbacombe's model village and the award-winning Paignton Zoo. Away from the coast, visit Tavistock, where you can enjoy some dramatic scenery. There are many National Trust properties and plenty of surfing, swimming, sailing and angling. Torquay has a lot to offer, such as the Living Coasts, where the penguins wander freely, and the theatre which has shows all year round. The Roman city of Exeter is 15 miles, whilst bustling Torbay encompasses Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. Visit the yachting marina and a selection of fine gardens, in addition to Kent's Cavern where the remains of some of Britain's very earliest inhabitants were found. Discover the castles, abbeys, wildlife parks, steam trains and model railways, all within easy reach with many open throughout the year. Shop 700 yards, pub and restaurant 400 yards.

We had a very relaxing break at this beautiful cottage in what was a very soggy weather week. The only thing I would say in slight criticism,is that the heating could have been a little better. I do take blood thinners so feel the cold easily, so maybe just me! A very pretty location and central to everything we wanted for our break. If you visit, I would absolutely recommend the Churh House inn just a stroll away. Fantastic hospitality, food and atmosphere. We will definitely return. Thankyou so very much!

I have stayed in these cottages many times For work and pleasure. Always exceptionally clean and kept to a very high standard. Steve and Tina have always looked after us well and been very accommodating with last minute bookings. 10/10

Cottage had everything we required for stay near to family. Rose cottage was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Directions and all communication before and after our stay was efficient, friendly and welcoming.

The cottage has always been perfect for our stay even though my partner is 93years old with mobility issues, deafness and limited sight. Each year it gets a little harder to manoeuvre for him so sadly not sure whether we will be able to return next year which is sad for us both as we love it there. One complaint is the limited parking area for rose cottage as it is so small, however we did manage to get the gardener to cut the hedge back , so that helped. Another problem was the other guests not parking in the proper place but to be fair it was only one guest who was unhelpful, others were more than happy to move over a bit. Space to get my partner out and into a wheelchair was difficult but again we managed. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and although small it was cleverly furnished to enable comfort and space inside. A small but lovely sitting area was also great for sitting with my early morning tea. I would certainly recommend the property to others.

We were very happy with the location and comfort of the cottage at arrival. Unfortunately on our second night neighbours held a huge and loud party that went on the whole night. We could not reach the owners to do something about it. Hardlly slept that night and no compensation nor satisfying communication about it from the owners. Very dissapointing as we didn’t expect something like that to happen at all. We expected a quiet place.
