Livingston, Montana
Welcome to the Montana Block Flats, located on Main Street in the heart of historic downtown Livingston. Conveniently situated within walking distance of all the great restaurants, cafes, bars, art galleries, museums, and boutique shops that downtown Livingston offers. This historic building has been completely renovated; updated with modern amenities, while maintaining much of the historic charm.
The Stillwater is a 1-bedroom flat that boasts modern accommodations, including a fully remodeled and well-stocked kitchen with dining table, queen size bed, living room with a sleeper sofa that sleeps one and accent chair, TV, high-speed internet, AC, beautiful views, and a quaint but extensively remodeled bathroom which includes a bathtub.
Guests of the Flats have access to the coin-operated laundry facilities. Please note that there is no elevator in the building, and there are 15 stairs up to the first landing and 9 stairs to the main hall of the Flats. Street parking in much of Downtown Livingston has a 2-hour limit (9AM-5PM). Longer-term parking is available one-block away in the lot off B Street. The front entrance to the Flats is off Lewis Street.
The Montana Block Flats are located just an hour’s drive from Yellowstone National Park, 15-minutes to river access in Paradise Valley, 10-minutes to numerous hikes and trails and so much more! The Bozeman Airport is a quick 35-minute drive away.
This building, which is now home to the Montana Block Flats, was once the Montana Block Hotel (established in 1906). The hotel served tourists in the summer months but throughout the years they relied on the ‘drummer’ trade. Drummers was a word used to describe traveling businessmen who rode the rails, stopping in towns large and small, to drum up business for their companies. They were a constant presence on the railroad lines of 100+ years ago and helped to make the lines hum with their travel and stories.
The modern condo unit is conveniently located in downtown Livingston. It has an updated kitchen with modern amenities. The sofa bed is not really suitable for an adult to sleep on as it flipped over once we opened it for our 5 yo. We leaned it to the wall to make it work, but it was not comfortable. I think the owner should equip the unit with some basic cleaning supplies (e.g., broom, toilet cleaner) and extra sheets for long-week stays. When we contacted for sheets to be used on the sofa, they promptly responded so communication was good. Overall, we had an OK experience but we mostly spent time in my in-laws’ rental and never cooked here. I hope they improve a few things for longer stays as the unit feels like a hotel suite without a concierge or cleaning service. Yet, if you travel as a couple and plan on staying for a few nights, it is a good value.
The flats are nice new apts. Excellent location. very clean and all that you need for a great stay in Montana. Stairs to the rooms, but good exercise. Pickle barrel sandwich shop across street has great food. All restaurants we went to were great. Would recommend this property to anyone , except those who have issues with stairs.
