Quito is a very noisy, overwhelming city. If you are looking for and apartment to come home to after a long day that is quiet, peaceful and safe, you have found it. The apartment is 20 minutes walk to centro histórico,
Wonderful location. No Spanish so had a little communication problem. Guards were very friendly and helpful at the complex. Would stay there again.
Wonderful two bedroom apartment, perfect for travel with adult children. Location is very convenient, just a short cab ride to the Historic District. We had everything we needed for our stay. Fully stocked kitchen allowed us to handle breakfast and lunch on our own. Grocery store within walking distance, as are coffee shops. Pillar was very responsive to all our inquiries, even arranging for transfers to and from the airport. I highly recommend this property for your stay in Quito.
For the 4th year we have left the cold weather in Kentucky for the perfect weather of Quito. We spend 2 to 3 months in this beautiful apartment, and already have it rented for January-March of 2020. Anyone who needs accommodations for a short time or an extended stay, should look into Casa de Pilar. The kitchen is complete with any appliance, cookware, dishes, cutlery you could need. Wine glasses, margarita glasses, serving dishes and more. The bathrooms and bedrooms are equally well furnished. I can’t say enough about the area, shopping and restaurants and especially the parks, museums, concert halls within easy walking distance. The pictures do not do justice to this lovely apartment. Going to Quito? Do yourself a favor and look into Casa de Pilar.
This beautifully decorated, spacious apartment was the perfect place to stay while we visited Quito. It was very clean and well appointed and stocked with everything we could possibly need for our stay. Pilar provided lots of good instructions on how to operate everything on the premises and she also provided lots of good information on the area. The apartment was beautifully decorated with high end finishes and was so large and comfortable that we felt at home immediately. The neighborhood was very quiet, but there were lots of restaurants and shopping venues within walking distance and we had no problem finding everything we needed. After a long day of sightseeing, it was always a pleasure to come back to this beautiful apartment. Pilar was a wonderful hostess and we appreciate all she did. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who is visiting Quito.
For the 3rd straight year, we have spent 2-3 months at the Casa de Pilar. So nicely decorated with sunlight streaming through the many large windows throughout the apartment Everything you need is right at hand. EVERYTHING! We enjoy cooking in the well appointed kitchen, and I can’t think of any appliance or cooking utensils, serving dishes or plates that we do not have. There is even a complete spice rack for our use. We are able to cook great meals and set a beautiful table for guests. This apartment is everything advertised, and so much more. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Quito while we get out of the cold Kentucky winters. Pilar is very accommodating and strives to make sure our stay is as perfect as can be. Location could not be better. We feel very safe and secure. I could go on and on with my praise of this lovely apartment. We already have it rented for the first 3 months of 2019, and we can’t wait to go back.
Our first words when we walked in were Wow, good choice.. It is actually nicer than the pictures. Very spacious, and nicely decorated. The security guards downstairs are friendly and helpful. The building is clean and safe. It is a great location away from all the crowds but close enough to easily get there. The owner, Pilar was very helpful before and after we arrived. She answered all my emails very quickly and made arrangements for our transport to and from the airport. We are very pleased with our stay and would give it even more stars if possible. Thank you Pilar for sharing your beautiful home. Fran
This apartment was only surpassed by the communication and care provided by the owner! You could not choose a better location for doing Quito. Easy transportation to Centro or anywhere, with easy walking to Plaza Foch area where we found the best food we had in Ecuador at Miskay - a new restaurant. The 24/7 security guards were helpful and friendly as well. The apartment has everything you need - great washer/dryer and kitchen! Also extras like more towels and sheets if you need them. It was so comfortable and a great place to return after a day of museums, etc. We cannot think of a single thing we would change about this lovely place. Strongly recommend it!
We stayed at Casa de Pilar for two months this year. It was our second time, we already have it reserved for January-March in 2018. We love everything about the apartment, and we love everything about the location. We appreciate the attention to details that is given to the kitchen. Any type of serving platters, cookware, beautiful dishes, a spice rack, storage containers, any type of cooking utensil you might need to prepare a great meal. The appliances are top quality. We love that we have Netflix available to us during our down time. I would recommend this apartment to anyone. Even if you are in Quito only a short time, this is the place to stay. I think the rates are very reasonable, and you will not find another place as modern and comfortable in Quito. Believe me, I have looked.
Promised myself to wait prior to writing this review; a cooling down period of sorts. After two months, I'm ready........ As is common, we arrived Quito LATE in the night. Everything went according to plan, driver provided by property owner met us according to plan, very nice man, etc... Checked into unit and SURPRISE, unit was absolutely filthy. Wet towels laying about, beds were stripped, sink full of dirty dishes, bathrooms were gross, etc.. Frantcally tried to reach landlord, no luck. Attempted to secure a hotel, no luck. Rummaged around unit looking for clean sheets, found a few. Made beds and settled in for a long sleepless night. Contacted owner, who would attempt to have someone clean unit with no commitment of when that may be. Following day, late afternoon, cleaners show up. Cleaned until late evening (roughly 7:30pm). That evening, we started to cook a very late dinner, pots were filthy and stove / cooktop only partially functional (could only use single burner OR stove, not both). Reported new issues to owner, never resolved. With a very restrictive diet, a fully functional kitchen is a requirement when we travel. After trying to make it work, we finally left early and secured other accommodations. No sorry, offer of refund, or even an acknowledgement that everything didn't go as planned. Would definitely NOT RECOMEND.
This is one of the best, perhaps THE best apartment we have ever stayed at and we've been travelling and renting a lot for the last 10 years. Everything, the design and layout, the furnishings are high end, and it is supremely well maintained. The location really is perfect or at least it was for us. We like to walk. It was an easy half hour walk to historic centro and a 10 minute walk to Plaza Mariscal Foch. Although we never managed to meet Pilar, the owner, we felt she treated us as a friend. One night when there was a small tremblor that we didn't even feel, she did and emailed us to make sure we were okay. Security was never an issue, with 24/7 guards at the front entrance and a keycard for the elevator. One hint: don't forget to go to the rooftop terrace for a beautiful view of Quito, and then go up again at night. We would stay again in an instant.
