In the meantime, you can immerse yourself in one of the nation’s few remaining authentic Italian-American settlements, known as "The Hill." The Hill is a long-established Italian-American neighborhood with family-owned delis, sandwich shops and bakeries on Marconi Avenue, and trattorias, pizzerias and upscale Italian eateries dotting the streets around Shaw and Wilson avenues. The “Italian Immigrants” statue stands outside St. Ambrose Catholic Church, and locals gather to play bocce at Milo’s Bocce Garden across the street and in neighborhood parks.
Enjoy the food, wine, dolci, bocce and charming atmosphere from the convenience of your sweet perch overlooking the neighborhood’s newest project, the Piazza Imo. Lime bikes and electric scooters can be found but walking is the preferred mode of transportation here where everything you could want is literally at your doorstep in this safe and friendly community.
This lovely new apartment in an historic building is located in the true heart of the Hill. The second floor entrance is accessed from an indoor staircase to the apartment on the right. A shared deck overlooks the neighborhood's new Piazza Imo, with a magnificent fountain, gardens and chess tables with sycamore trees. Enjoy morning coffee or a gelato downstairs at the Gelato di Riso (shortened winter hours in January and February) or have a beverage on your deck with the piazza view, reminiscent of an Italian square. At the foot of the stairs you will be a few steps away from our historic Italian Immigrant Statue, St. Ambrose Church, bocce garden and family friendly neighborhood pub, and pizzeria on our shared corner, and more within a few blocks. An easy walk in this safe neighborhood to countless Italian restaurants, deli's, bakeries and shops make it a place to relax and make memories. Loved the neighborhood and small town feel.
A quaint little apartment nestled in The Hill, this place was not lacking in any of the amenities you'd expect at an expensive hotel. We were provided toiletries and even the option to enjoy some complimentary pasta. The apartment was right above a gelato cafe (I recommend that as well!) and just across the street from a bar as well as a few other restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Loved the special touches like the tomato sauce and pasta. The 10:00 check- out was too early.
Joe and Deb are great people and very accommodating. The location is super. Everything was perfect.
This property was extremely comfortable for us. If ever back in St. Louis we will most definitely stay here again. It was spotless and had everything that we needed. We ate outside every night on the deck that has a gorgeous view of the church Piazzo with fountain. The location is perfect and in the middle of everything.... restaurants, a beer garden, DiGregorio's Italian Market which has spectacular deli meats and foods- everything you could possibly want for your stay. The people of the neighborhood are so very friendly. Reminiscent of the old days when everyone knew their neighbors. Staying here was the the best experience of our trip.
Awesome place for my college student to recover from surgery. Quiet, safe neighborhood. Fully stocked kitchen. We had gelato from downstairs every night! Loved having our own off street parking spot.
We would recommend this property to anyone. The owners communicated well and the property is beautifully maintained.
Clean and convenient to all the flavors, scenes, and ambiance of The Hill. We walked everywhere and would love to come back and experience more of the local offerings. Everyone we met was very helpful and friendly.
Wonderful stay! Very clean and comfortable. The hosts have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. The location is great. We will be back!
My husband and I traveled from NY to St Louis to meet visit our daughter and her BF and to meet our new grandson. It made a big difference to us in choosing this location that the owners emphasized the extra cleaning they were doing due to Covid-19. The apartment was immaculate; the location was perfect; and even though we did few touristy activities, we thoroughly enjoyed walking The Hill neighborhood. Everyone in the neighborhood was so friendly and the majority were appropriately social distancing and wearing masks when appropriate. The apartment had everything we needed, plus extras like a washer & dryer, coffee, and even pasta and jar of sauce! The bed was super comfortable and my husband was impressed that his back felt so good after sleeping on it. Debbie and Joe checked on us via email on the second day to make sure all was well, and we had both of their phone numbers should we need quick contact. The apartment was perfect, and we hope it will be available when we make our next trip to St. Louis.
great location and a delicious bakery just down the street.
This location was FANTASTIC!!! Great restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries and meat markets. Debbie was easy to contact and very responsive. This location felt safe, comfortable and inviting. The residents in the are were very friendly. I have had back problems. The bed was very comfortable and from night one....MY BACK DID NOT HURT AT ALL. It was very close to family that lived nearby. We DEFINATELY want to come back.
