Location is the best bit about this property. The accommodation itself was pretty satisfactory. Not amazing but satisfactory. Some areas needs some attention / maintenance. The bed squeaks. 5 of the light bulbs were blown. TV is pretty old and slow with a temperamental remote. The dishwasher listed as a feature doesn't exist. Heating / Cooling is a mess - there's two room thermostats located in the room which appear to have no relevance to the underfloor heating, which was happily keeping the floors at a toasty 40c during hot weather. Although the thermostats suggest cooling is an option, it's not apparent where the cool air comes from! The TV remote control looked grubby - I would have thought with covid risks areas like this would have had particular attention with regards to cleaning. The carpet needed a good vacuum, was a fair bit of long hair lurking.
Having spent the previous week in a lovely Dorset cottage a few miles away, booked through Vrbo, we had high expectations. We were a bit disappointed to be honest. On the positive side, the location is fantastic, amazing, superb! It is two minutes walk from the beach. There is a wonderful view from the bedroom window of the enormous bay - this must be one of the best views in the country - absolutely marvellous. The apartment is in a block of flats with a concierge at reception. The two concierge were both very helpful. When we arrived on the Saturday afternoon, we reported to reception and were asked if we had received our codes. The codes it turned out operated the lock to the apartment and the general access to the apartment block and the garage. We had not been given our codes so the concierge phoned the office for us and we got in. The first thing that hit us was overwhelming heat. We opened the windows and the door to the small balcony, but the heat continued. Again the concierge was helpful trying to adjust the heating controls and calling the rental office to get a fan delivered. It transpired that the previous occupants had left the heating set for 31 degrees. Later that evening we found a couple stranded outside the next door apartment to ours. They had just arrived from Malta. We tried to help them enter their key code and as they checked the number, we realised that they had been sent the number for our apartment. They tried to call the emergency number but without success. Eventually, they gave up and spent the night elsewhere. Other negatives included the very smelly toilet/ shower room where the fan failed to remove the smell that pervaded the apartment all week. There is a small balcony with a good view, but it was spoiled by the tobacco smoke rising or crossing from other balconies - the man below was a chain smoker and had on his balcony the most enormous collection of cigarette butts ever seen. Overall, for a couple the apartment was a bit claustrophobic. However, if you are looking for a pad with a fantastic view, and a guaranteed parking space very near the beach, this could be for you.
Great property, very clean lovely views. We'd definitely recommend.
