The Neighborhood

St. PETERSBURG, FL — It’s official: St. Petersburg is one of the top destinations for travelers in the United States, according to Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Destinations list for 2024.

St. Pete nabbed the No. 2. spot on the list of top 15 destinations.

“The sun almost always shines on St. Petersburg, the ‘Sunshine City’ that enjoys an average of 361 days of clear skies per year. Combine that with 244 miles of glimmering coastline along Tampa Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, Boca Ciega Bay and the intra coastal waterways and you have one hot beach destination,” Tripadvisor's listing for the city said. “Catch the sun, surf and sand at Fort De Soto Park, or take a hike, bike ride up the 37-mile Pinellas Trail. Enjoy a (Tampa Bay) Rays game during baseball season or escape to the shady oasis of the Sunken Gardens a few minutes walk.” The Palm Arbor Suite is situated in the fabulous and Historic Old Northeast. The ONE as some call it. It is but a few blocks and a few minutes walk to eateries, cafes, taverns, cinema, Sundial shopping center, Tampa bay beach, The piers Spa beach, waterfront parks, bayside municipal pool, the Vinoy and the eclectic vibe of downtown St. Pete.
Most residents are on a high living in the Old Northeast, loving the community and its close proximity to our thriving downtown.

This quiet residential neighborhood with historic homes is the opposite of the happening downtown scene, which might just be just one of its appeals. Those discovering this area, largely through word of mouth, say they love its sense of community while relishing the easy access to downtown. With its eclectic architecture, brick streets, picket fences and lush foliage, the neighborhood offers an odd blend of New England style and tropical sensibility. Despite its residential nature, it is just north of St. Petersburg’s downtown, making it convenient to the city’s booming cultural and entertainment scene. It also offers easy access for out-of-towners, since it is just 20 minutes from Tampa International Airport.

Guest Access

Check in time 2:pm and Check Out time 10:30 am. Guests will have access to private off street parking, private patios, beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and use of free washer and dryer in laundry room.
This suite in general is a self sufficient apartment furnished with cleaning products, broom, mop, and vacuum.
Cleaning services are available for an additional fee for stays over 1 week upon request.

Interaction with Guests

Getting around

Quaint open-air trolleys and buses are available and within walking distance.
Bus services are available and can be accessed just a few blocks away. Rent bikes, nearby and at bike shops or scooters at the outdoor city locations all in and around the city.
Palm Arbor Suite is a twenty minute drive from Tampa International airport.
The city of St. Petersburg has long been known for its scenic bayfront and renowned art museums. In recent years, St. Pete has also emerged as a hot spot for shopping, art museums, dining, nightlife and entertainment. With 361 days of sunshine a year, a lively downtown area, and a full spectrum of things to see and do you will be enthralled.

Downtown St. Petersburg: Arts, Culture & Entertainment

A hub for art and culture, downtown St. Pete is home to many notable fine art museums and galleries. The iconic Dali Museum displays artwork by the influential 20th-century surrealist Salvador Dali in a stunning building with a flowing geodesic dome known as the “Enigma.” Just down the street, the Chihuly Collection presented by Morean Arts Center features some of the most brilliant and intricate creations of famous glass artist Dale Chihuly. The collections in the Museum of Fine Arts showcase works by Monet, Gauguin, Renoir, O’Keeffe and many other beloved 18th- and 19th-century painters. Galleries lining the Central Avenue corridor include the Craftsman House Gallery, Crislip Arcade, ARTpool and the Morean Arts Center.

The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Mahaffey Theater hosts major shows and entertainers. Built in 1925, the Palladium Theater is a performing arts venue that is intimate and majestic. The theater’s 880-seat Hough Concert Hall boasts a full-sized Skinner pipe organ. In addition, the American Stage Theatre Company, Freefall Theatre Company and Florida Orchestra are all located in downtown St. Pete. The St. Pete area is brimming with culture of all sorts. St. Pete Dining and Nightlife

Downtown St. Pete offers a diverse range of restaurants, from upscale award-winning Chefs to the casually trendy and innovative Red Mesa Cantina. Dine outside on the scenic Beach Drive promenade at Cassis American Brasserie, Bella Brava New World Trattoria, Moon Under Water or 400 Beach Seafood & Tap
The beaches of St. Petersburg and nearby Clearwater are consistently ranked among the best in the U.S. and even the world, but there's more to this destination than white sand, pristine waters, and 361 days of sunshine per year. St. Pete/Clearwater offers more than 30 museums and galleries featuring world-renowned artists like Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso, as well as the largest collection of Salvador Dalí's work outside of Spain. One could say brewing the perfect beer is also an artform that St. Pete/Clearwater has mastered, with its trail of 35+ locally owned craft breweries. Playfully nicknamed the Gulp Coast”.
The Canopy lounge comes complete with private cabanas and fire pits and one of the best waterfront and city skyline views

We had a wonderful 2 weeks. The accommodations were great and the pictures were exactly correct (even better in person). Richard was a great host. The location was ideal as we loved being able to walk everywhere. Downtown is a 15 minute walk to every restaurant you can image. The pier has a great beach if you don't want to drive. We definitely lucked out with the weather. From our messages back and forth prior to our visit and the very extensive welcome binder, Richard did not miss a beat with what we needed to know about the area. He even left some treats for our dog as a stocking stuffer. We would definitely return and rent again from Richard. The apartment was fully stocked and we stayed in nights and even cooked full meals as well since the kitchen had everything you needed. Everything about the property in the write up is 100% true. Thank you Richard!

We stayed at this welcoming guest cottage several years ago when Richard was beginning his journey as a VRBO host. The high standards of cleanliness, comfort, and beauty he provides to his guests are still evident in 2025 as they were so long ago. The location in old northeast is walkable to so many exceptional restaurants, museums, and one of the most beautiful walks along the water in Florida. We cannot wait to return!

Palm Arbor Suite is a very nicely decorated modern space. It has everything you need for cooking in the kitchen if you wish to stay in and is close to many great restaurants if you’d rather dine out. The neighborhood is beautiful and is within walking distance to the beach. The front patio is filled with many beautiful lush tropical plants and has a table and chairs for two which we enjoyed every evening with a glass of wine and coffee in the morning. The bed was super comfy and the shower was nice and hot. We had a great stay and wouldn’t hesitate to rent again!

This vacation rental was just perfect for me in so many ways. Cozy and comfortable, Richard thought of everything to make the stay feel like home. A bottle of wine with many different snacks greeted me when I first entered this adorable cottage. The bed is super comfortable and the kitchen is supplied with everything you can think of to make a meal. Staying in this area is great for easy access to the beaches and city of St. Pete. There is so much to see in this wonderful area and I loved being able to walk to the parks ,waterfront, and shops on Beach drive. Hoping to return again next year.

This was our 4th trip to Richard's place and we don't have a bad word to say about. It's so well decorated with everything you could possibly need, set in a great neighbourhood. Richard is always on hand for even the smallest thing and we've come to love catching up with him each time we return. Thanks to him as always!

Such a lovely home away from home! All the thoughtful little touches from the starter supplies (wine and snacks included), and comfy beds and furniture, to the well equipped kitchen, not to mention a book filled with a plethora of local recommendations were so appreciated. As a host, Richard has gone above and beyond. And as an added bonus the neighborhood is so charming, with it's cobblestone streets, lovingly restored homes, and lush gardens.Location is good also...sandwiched between commercial area with restaurants and coffee shops and the beach. What's not to like?

From the moment my mom and I walked in we both instantly felt relaxed. It was a hot day and there were two cold water bottles waiting for us. You can tell every detail through out the home was done with the guest in mind. Richard was on his own much needed vacation but it didn’t stop him from sending a text the day prior and another one checking in mid week. His property manager Peter came and introduced himself the moment we settled in. He was super nice and made sure we were comfortable. Now the location is just amazing. It’s within a quaint historic neighborhood close to downtown St. Pete. I am originally from the area and I come home often to visit family and friends. I now have my go to place. A big thank you to Richard and Peter!
