Nice size, basic accommodations in typical Puerta Rican neighborhood. Good selection of cookware and dishes. Felt safe. Market down the street had a bit of everything and were super helpful. Older property but clean. Would stay again.
The host was super fast getting back to us with all the recommendations we inquired about! The house was super clean and centrally located if you have a car. We even had our own parking spot! I highly recommend. We would definitely come back! Thanks so much :)
Loved that it was locked and wasnt not obtainable by others, the privacy and space
Friendly host. Clean, quick reply
Loved the property really comfy and clean
Overall our stay was decent. Our host was very nice and he responded to every question or need immediately...so appreciated! Pros: clean, quiet older neighborhood, convenient to San Juan and all major highways, nearby Costco, Walmart, etc. Cons: The apartment was on the second floor, although the photo left us with a first floor impression. If this information was in the listing, I missed it. The amenities are very basic, so it felt a bit institutional rather than minimalist but worked for our needs this trip. The apartment is open air in the kitchen, LR and bath but air conditioned in bedroom for the nights. We turned it off during the day and left windows and doors open for a nice breeze.
The property was very nice, clean and in a very good location. I never got a chance to meet the owner / host but we communicated some what because he was at his job. Otherwise everything went well.
This was, an interesting stay. Upon arrival we were met with broken glass, and a dripping light fixture in the kitchen. Which were easy fixes that honestly don’t matter. However, it was the host throwing rocks at our window to get our attention that really set the tone for our stay here. It was an attempt to get our attention that we had parked in the wrong spot… when he could’ve just knocked on the door. Ultimately, we liked that the area was more local and not in the touristy part of town but, things could’ve been better. 6/10, would recommend but with a warning.
Our stay in Carolina was wonderful. Esaul was responsive on our arrival, late at night helping us find the house located across the street from the Munoz barber shop late at night. He provided us most of anything that we could have requested in our weeklong stay and was generally in or around the area and could be reached by phone or text in English or Spanish (bi-lingual was a big plus for us). The apartment that we stayed at was secluded behind the primary residence with its own gated entry, lit corridor between buildings, and stairwell. The apartment itself includes all of the amenities needed for a short-to-longterm stay including a moderately-sized kitchenette with gas stove, a four-top dining table, living room, bathroom and bedroom. The residence uses shaker-style shutters that are operated via a handle like most homes in Puerto Rico. The main bedroom includes a split AC unit that keeps the bedroom cool during the day and at night. During our stay we found it best to leave the bedroom door closed during the day, as the unit was not strong enough to cool the entire apartment and only the room. During the cooler parts of the evening, it can be used to cool most of the apartment as the AC is not directly contending with the heat of the day. The major parts of the day, the living room and bathroom will get warm but that is to be expected staying in Puerto Rico. The unit includes the kind of pull-out bed that you would typically find in a hotel that is handy for folks staying with young children or parties having more than two adults. The shower water in the bathroom is heated. The front living room includes internet and a smart tv which can be used for streaming or casting. At most times, we got fast enough speeds for watching videos and YouTube on demand. The unit is conveniently close to several gas stations, a Chinese restaurant, bars, the Plaza de Carolina (mall), and several shopping areas. Ihop, Walmart, Pueblo, BurgerKing, Taco Bell, and many other places are only a short 15 minute drive away. The apartment was conveniently located to all of the locations to visit family and local sights: Old San Juan, Pinones, Rio Grande, Arecibo, and Isabella. Thanks to Esaul for a great stay!
