Stayed Jan 24, 2020We had book the apartment for 14 days but ended up checking out five days early. Mostly because of heat, mosquitoes and/or bedbugs, and mildew smell. The positive. 1. We enjoyed the pool. 2. The monkeys and bush babies were fun 3. The landscape is beautiful. 4. The workers and guards were very friendly and helpful. 5. The owner took us to the local hospital when we needed. 6. There was a water cooler. The negative. 1. There was no air conditioning. Mombasa is very hot and humid and we couldn't sleep much at all and the children woke up crying many times because of the heat. 2. There were cockroaches, millipedes, ants, mosquitoes and a few other bugs. I got bitten well over 30 times as I slept by two different insects even though we were under the mosquito net and I also sprayed many times. I've been to Africa before and this was by far the worst. 3. The stove only had one working burner. 4. They didn't have any supplies so we needed to buy things like salt, etc. 5. They didn't have soap or shampoo in the bathrooms and only would supply one roll of toilet paper per bathroom for the entire stay. 6. The towels and sheets and whole apartment smelled musty and moldy. 7. They wanted me to pay the electric bill but after they turned the electricity off, the owner eventually decided that he should pay the bill. 8. The apartment was not very clean. 9. There were some repairs that were needed. Overall I think the apartment needs to be re-modeled and upgraded before they rent it again.
