NEW FOLDOUT SOFABED
The living room converts into a cozy bedroom at night. We are happy to announce that our original sofabed has been replaced by a new Comfort Sleeper by American Leather. This high-end "marvel of engineering" opens into a luxurious queen bed with a solid platform (no bars, springs or sagging) and a thick high-density foam mattress with luxury linens. Described as a "non-sofabed", the Comfort Sleeper is easy to operate, glides open and closed effortlessly, and is comfortable for a restful night's sleep!
The living room also features a 32” flat-screen HDTV with cable service and a Blu-Ray player, as well as an extensive collection of books and DVDs. Other amenities include spa towels and robes, WIFI, and private parking.
NEW HEATING SYSTEM
We are also thrilled to announce that we have replaced and upgraded our winter heating system! In response to feedback we received from guests about a “ticking" sound when the elements/coils in the old system were heating/expanding (an unfortunate characteristic of baseboard heat), we have installed a new hydronic system that is not only highly-efficient and environmentally-friendly, but also "whisper-quiet". The new heater is very responsive and effective at quickly heating the studio and maintaining any temperature you choose, while not making a single sound. And for guests who have trouble sleeping in absolute silence, we have installed a white noise generator to provide background noise.
PETS
Well-behaved and crate-trained dogs are considered ~ please ask. Please note that dogs must be crated when left alone in the cottage, and leashed when outdoors. A $100/week pet fee per dog applies.

This is a beautiful, treed, private property with wilderness all around. We had deer and fawns walking through the yard and the most spectacular firefly display at night. It is rural enough that you have complete darkness at night to enjoy the stars and close enough to town that we could walk everywhere we went. The cottage is small but contains everything we needed for a weekend getaway. We walked from the cottage to Overlook Mountain which was a significant outing (4 hours return including stops for snacks and water). The scenery is stunning and the lookout view was well worth the effort. We also spent a large amount of time in town shopping, eating (multiple meals at the wonderful Garden Cafe) and even took in a concert at the Colony. It is a wonderful little town full of welcoming and helpful people.
We couldn’t have loved it more if we’d tried. Looking forward to a return visit.
We went up for a short trip away. Super cute space and close to town. We loved it!
Great nice little house close to town had deer in the yard the bed was small for me but the place had a great charm to it
I had a wonderful stay at the property as a solo traveler! Everything was exactly as specified, and I felt like I had everything I needed. It was a perfect few minute drive from town and close by to the other area towns I wanted to visit. It’s worth seeing who is playing at Leven Helms Studios, which is a unique concert venue and a quick five minute drive. I did want to mention that although the shower was fine for me, if not a bit cramped, that if you are a larger person, it may be an issue for you. I look forward to returning another time with my husband!
This stay was nothing short of amazing. From the beginning all of my questions were answered promptly and when I needed to adjust my stay the accommodations were made with no issues. The home itself is small but perfect for my single girls getaway. I needed down time where I could recharge. This place allowed just that. It was quiet and secluded yet the location allowed easy trips to town and surrounding areas. It was well appointed and had everything I needed for. 5-night stay. I would highly recommend this location for a single or couple. Would love to come back again soon!
Lovely
this spot is super sweet. the bed is comfy and the sauna makes it all worth it. there's a sweet surprise in the shower. and we even got a surprise visit from a baby deer.
Perfect location near downtown Woodstock. Clean and quiet cottage. Communication with property manager was easy and she was very prompt with information. A great experience! Hope to come back!
I just finished my third-ever stay at Rock City Writers Studio. Previously, I'd stayed in fall 2016 (with another adult) and spring 2017 (by myself), for 3-4 days each time. This time, I stayed for a full week, and I had my 15-year-old daughter with me, because I wanted her to experience the peace & quiet and quirky charm of RCWS. We both loved the feeling of having a tiny little house all to ourselves, and enjoyed seeing bunnies and cats out in the yard on most days. The sleeper couch is still comfy and convenient -- a snap to deploy and put away. My daughter was initially suspicious of the little shower closet in the kitchen, despite me assuring her that she'd be fine. Once she tried it for herself, she was sold! Three of the days of our stay were extremely hot, with a heat index over 100 degrees. On those days, RCWS was very hot inside when we got back for the evening. Leaving the kitchen door open to the screened-in porch for a couple of hours fixed that problem -- aided and abetted by the box fan that I'd brought from home. Overall, this is a charming little place. It's become an important part of my visits to Woodstock. I will definitely be back!
The studio was clean and convenient--a short drive to town (though we didn't feel comfortable walking it since there is no shoulder on the road). The garden is green and lovely and we spent many afternoons reading and relaxing there. It's a nice quiet location--very nice.
