Modern 4 **** apartment u in Wernigerode (Non smoking. WIFI)

Overall the apartment is ok, but definitely not 4 star, a scratchy 3 at best. I say this as cookery hood needed paper to wedge the sensor on, the light switch to it was broken. Several broken, cracked floor tiles, shower door doesn't seal closed. The listing pictures are very old as two trees block sunlight into the living room ( not seen in listing picture). Check in communication was non existent, we texted her to say we were outside the property, got a phone call 10 mins later to say key was in box attached to bin, as we entered her son arrived to say she was upstairs and his dad would be down later for the tourist tax money. Cleanliness definitely could be better, especially in the corners, no welcome pack, just scraps of paper with WiFi code and TV channels. Stinky shoes are lined up the stairs outside the apartment. Still we had off street parking, washing machine and dishwasher, supermarket 2 mins away and 15 minutes walk into Wernigerode town. Location is great for exploring the Harz. In all we did enjoy our stay but these improvements are required to bring up our considered rating

Enjoyed our stay in the apartment and area. Communication with host was poor and we were only given information where to get the keys the evening before arrival. Apartment was very clean and well equipped. However, the garden was a disgrace. Had not been maintained for some years, full of weeds. The patio and the front entrance were also covered in weeds. Discussing this with the owner but obvious he had no plans to change things!!

It would help if there was more information in English. We were surprised when we arrived at the property at the allocated check-in time on Saturday afternnon to find that the owners were away for the weekend and did not get back until Sunday evening. Apparently we were supposed to telephone before arriving and obtain a code for a key-safe, but as everything we had been sent was in German (far too much for a non-speaker to translate), we were not aware of this. Fortunately a neighbour helped us to contact the owner, and we were able to get in to the property but it was very confusing and unnecessarily stressful. When the owner did arrive, he was very pleasant and helpful but the check-in itself was poorly communicated. Because we were not able to pay the tourist tax on the Saturday we missed out on 1 day of being able to use the transport/voucher system. There was also no information inside the apartment on how to access the wi-fi system, what TV channels were available, how to use the microwave - all of which we have had provided in previous holiday rentals (not viw HomeAway). Apartment itself was great, but communication could be a lot better.

Very nice place. Clean neat. Quiet neighborhood, a fair distance from centrum. Only problem was wifi that worked sporadically if at all

Excellent holiday flat with everything you could need. Clean and well-maintained. Owner very friendly and helpful. Excellent base to explore Harz mountains. Free bus passes made it easy to visit historic towns nearby. Couldn't have been better.
