Stayed Oct 9, 2025A large and comfortable and stylish apartment with everything we needed to cook and eat and relax. And in a lovely area with easy access to downtown and easier to the Blue Ridge. Really appreciated the back garden and the washer and dryer. And Marta is charming! If you are looking for a sterilized hotel experience this is not it, there was a little dust but nothing major and all important things were spotlessly clean. An ideal place for several days or several weeks!

Stayed Jul 27, 2024I visited Asheville for a weekend stay with a friend and this home was perfect for us. As we walked in we were greeted by friendly kitties and a beautiful garden. Once we were inside the home we found ourselves totally charmed by the vintage design features, particularly in the bathroom. The photos don't show the cute vanity and window. Even though the unit is a basement the space feels light, airy and clean. If you love a home with a unique character you will likely enjoy your stay here!

Stayed Jul 14, 2023The property was as described and the host was very welcoming, including offering fresh picked blueberries from the garden. This is a central location for all of the activities that I was interested in - golf, hiking, food, other activities (right next to Municipal golf course).

Stayed May 6, 2023Marta's place was such a cool, retro, mid-century space! Cool and comfy with all the things needed to enjoy the stay. Her backyard was a bird watcher's dream! Marta was warm and friendly and went out of her way allow me privacy in her space. Would absolutely recommend this place...unless you're super tall - it is a basement apartment with low-ish ceilings.

Stayed Apr 20, 2023If you love retro and are not too picky about a deep clean and don’t mind the owner being above you, this could be a good choice, especially for the price. It’s a basement apartment that has all the original furnishings from the 60’s, I think the appliances as well! So, kind of cute, but due to the age, there’s ground-in grime that could benefit from a deep clean—cabinets, oven, refrigerator, baseboards, etc. If you’re sensitive to odors, then this probably not the place for you as it is kind of musty plus you get cooking odors from upstairs. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable, and it was very quiet at night, so pretty good sleeping. The windows open, which is great if you like fresh air at night. I loved that. The a/c and heat are completely controlled by the owner upstairs, so you have to ask if you want adjustments. One of the streets coming to the house is extremely narrow, and I almost had a heart attack when a big truck almost took my side view mirror off. Inches to spare. If you have a smaller vehicle you can comfortably park next to the owner’s carport, but it’s a little difficult with a larger vehicle. The owner was friendly, and the written instructions were clear. You just have to be comfortable with not having 100% privacy and being worried about bothering her. I certainly do not want to dissuade anyone from renting here, but you do have to be able to tolerate all the things I mentioned.

Stayed Mar 24, 2023Sweet, very vintage basement apartment. All amenities were satisfactory. Streaming television worked well as did the wifi. My lone critique is a suggestion that it's time for a new bathroom mat. Tall people beware, this is a basement apartment with dropped ceilings, I think 7' in places. Parking was good, and access to the apartment was easy. I would happily stay here again if I were to again visit Asheville.
