At first sight this is a cute old house in a quiet neighborhood. Unfortunately, this second floor apartment has a very strong tobacco smell. It is listed as non-smoking but the smoke is in everything and can’t be ignored since this is a smoking house on the first floor. All the bedroom windows were open when we arrived and there were numerous plug-in deodorizer around the house. Two beds were very old and unusable. Two were OK if you don’t mind the smell. Bedding was old, stained and tattered. Overall, if you don’t mind a strong smoking home and only need two beds, the place is spacious, nicely located and the living room looked comfortable. The owner denied any smoke smell and refused any refund. We ended up staying in a hotel instead of of staying here.
My husband and I travelled to Green Bay December 8 – 10, 2018. At the last minute, we were offered Packer tickets and couldn’t pass them up! So, we began the search for a reasonably priced VRBO. We have always had great luck with VRBO, but I will admit we were a bit skeptical about M/C Suites as there were no posted reviews. However, from our first inquiry, Craig was prompt and informative in his replies. He answered several questions and was flexible with our arrival time – which we very much appreciated! While we actually spent very little time in the apartment, we were impressed by the tidiness of the apartment, the accuracy of the website description/photos, and the thoughtful details found throughout the apartment. For example, Craig had stocked the refrigerator with breakfast items and drink options in addition to leaving various instructions throughout the apartment. The apartment was spacious. It was located in a quiet neighborhood; we found it to be quite comfortable at the end of jam-packed days. It was conveniently located to Lambeau Field; we opted to Uber to and from the game for about $12.00 each way. On our way out the door to the game, I inadvertently locked the wrong door which would have prevented us from re-entering the apartment upon our return. Craig saved the day and within minutes arrived to unlock the door for us! We were very grateful for his swift action! On a side note, we were required to purchase Damage Protection as a part of the rental. A damage deposit is standard for vacation rentals, but in this case, the damage protection was an actual traveler’s insurance policy for $99.00. Prior to completing the booking, I inquired about a refund of the damage protection fee once the apartment was found in good condition; Craig assured me that it was refundable if no damage occurred. However, in reading the “fine print” of the paperwork, the policy should have been cancelled PRIOR to the actual stay in order for the fee to be fully refunded. We assumed that the fee would be returned AFTER no damage was found. In contacting the insurance company I was told we were mistaken; they could not refund the fee because the stay had already occurred. I attempted to contact Craig regarding this, but have not yet received a response. I mention this because future renters should be aware of this practice; it is my reason for 4 stars. In spite of the above the apartment met our needs and we had a great weekend!
