Stayed Oct 18, 2024I can't give you my impression of the property because I never saw it. When we arrived in Boston I was waiting on a text or email to give me check-in instructions. They typically come a couple of hours prior to the check-in time which was 4:00 P.M. When they never showed up I tried to contacting the host to no avail. Then I attempted to contact VRBO. Of course it's almost impossible to talk to a human but there are ways if you are persistent enough. They said they would attempt to reach the property owner and would call me back. After several hours with no return call I went through all the steps to talk to a human again. After going through several agents we were finally connected to someone who could help. They informed that sometime in the past the reservation had been cancelled by the property owner. I was not given a reason. While on the phone I received the email that I had never received explaining that the reservation was being canceled. The agent was actually pretty nice and told us they would refund all of our money and would pay for a hotel room for us for that night. The next night we would have to cover. (we had originally had a 2 night rental). Sounded reasonable and we accepted. When we got to the hotel they couldn't locate the reservation. Fortunately they were able to accommodate us but because this was hight volume season the second night cost us $1,100 per room. So even thought they paid 1 night we lost money plus lots of hassle and stress.

Stayed Sep 27, 2024The apartment was fine; it was clean and modern and there was security and the neighborhood was ok. There were two bedrooms and two baths and the living room had a sectioned off area with another futon. So not a room, but enough privacy and space for another one or two to sleep. Furnishings were fine but a little sparse; could have used a few more dishes and another lamp or two. A place that supposedly sleeps six had 3 coffee cups and I think 4 plates. The VRBO listing was not accurate as to location. The actual address was not given ahead but the pinpoint is at Tremont and Berkeley. A few days before our trip, I got an email saying the apartment is on Harrison Ave, a few blocks away. Then I got access instructions a day later to an apartment in Cambridge; over 2 miles away, across the river. Communication with the owner seemed to shrug it off, like they're still figuring out how VRBO works. We were traveling with a senior with limited mobility and we incurred a lot of extra driving and parking fees as well as additional time and stress from driving in and out of the city. Also, I do not think the photos on this listing are of the apartment in Cambridge. They must be of a different apartment. Price was high, even if it was market value for the area and space and time of year. Overall, the apartment met our needs, but the deviation from what we thought we were booking added cost and time and stress to an already expensive trip.
