Everything was pretty much good to excellent except the parking, which seems to be somewhat of an issue on the whole island. Really good overall, however 👍

Great location with lush landscaping and cool dolphin turtle tree sculpture. Bohemian arty vibe. Quirky entry to unit through neighbor unit’s lanai but they were friendly. Parking is very tight so recommend small car wash only.

We liked the Sunshine Suite so much, we booked a second trip to come back in November before we even left! Kailua is a tranquil beach town and our accommodations were cozy, clean, and quiet. The communal beach supplies were so convenient and saved us a lot of money and time. The property is nestled in under a canopy of tropical plants that make it feel like a private getaway. Steve and Susie were such friendly and generous hosts- we felt like family by the time we left. The proximity to the beach makes it perfect for easy access, and it’s close enough to the main drag for shopping and food without being stuck in the hustle and bustle. We can’t wait to come back!

Lovely appointed room with travel needs covered. Refrigerator & freezer that work! Friendly host. Parking garage - what a luxury in a rental. Across the street from a beautiful beach & lounge chairs available to enjoy spending time there. We recommend being next to the first life guard station. No crowds. : )

“Kitchenette” was a bit of a stretch.The book said to put yor dishes in the dishwasher, however there was no dishwasher(that I saw)

The host was very nice and communicated well until we were settled but then was unresponsive to a safety question (there was no smoke detector so we inquired about it but got no response). Also, the mosquitos were terrible (ate us alive) and the county had closed the beaches to swimming due to too much sewage in the water. And, the parking was impossibly tight, and is off of a very busy, dangerous road (this area is way over-crowded). So we did not have a nice time here, unfortunately.

Perfect little spot for my husband and I while visiting family in the area. Wonderful location. They had everything we needed!

Was a really nice stay!

We enjoyed the beach just across the road. Closeness to the beach is why we chose this particular place. The cottage was quaint and cozy.

Zak was a great host with great food destination suggestions. The unit was was very clean and well supplied. Great wifi. LOVED the close proximity to a great park and beach. We will miss our morning beach walks. Parking is very challenging, definitely use a small vehicle unless your party size does not allow. Or there is a parking option across the street along the outdside park fence. Would definitely return.

We had a wonderful short stay with everything we needed. The beach location was absolutely perfect for us.

Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Everything was as advertised. We were able to make breakfasts and lunches thanks to the fridge, toaster, microwave and kettle. There isn’t a lot of space for preparing food, but it was manageable. Also not a lot of space for hanging wet clothes and towels ( we got a lot of rain) but they do have a washer and dryer which was very useful.

Can't say enough good things about this place!The check-in process was very easy and accurately explained in advance of our arrival. The unit is exactly as described and spacious enough for two people (we stayed in the Sunrise Suite; there are several other units in this property).Parking is provided on-site (which is important). The pool and hot-tub are incredible (and an amazing way to spend time while doing laundry in the provided washer & dryer).The property is literally steps from Kailua Beach, an AMAZING beach away from all of the throngs of tourists in Waikiki.Kailua itself is amazing, with tons of great restaurants (Buzz's Steakhouse is walking distance and the Kalapawai Market, a great place to get your morning coffee, is about 1/2 mile away).We loved the place so much that we extended our stay (and just cancelled our reserveration in Waikiki). And Zak & Susan made it super-easy (great communication).Oh, and the sunrises across the street could be postcards! (see the included picture)I guess the only thing to point out is that this is NOT Waikiki (a great thing in my opinion!), which is about 30 minutes away by car.Overall, I'd give them six stars if that were available.

Love the homey vibe. Beach proximity, washer & dryer, host ability to assist us with a non- VRBO issue was great. Parking was a minor issue but easily resolved. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again. Thank you.

The parking situation was horrendous!! Young boys in the downstairs front unit were crawling all over our rental car parked cockeyed in the garage!! There needs to be a better, more convenient parking space for all the tenants..just impossible to get in and out..all the tenants were complaining! Loose toilet paper holder, light bar in bathroom not working properly and ants even in the bathroom! We enjoyed the pool and TV but parking and exiting were HUGE obstacles!!

This is a GREAT studio unit! Easily accessible to the BEST beach in the world, Lanikai! And a one minute walk to Kailua Beach. They have plenty of beach chairs and beach ‘toys’. They also have two bikes for pleasure riding.The unit was clean, checking in & out was a breeze! The owner was friendly and helpful. Communication was super easy.When they say a small car is ideal, they’re not kidding. I rented a Kia Soul and it just fit in my designated parking spot. Super fun trip! Hope to stay here again in the future! Aloha!

Cozy and close to the beach!

Prime location across from beautiful beach. Homeowner is very responsive. Would highly recommend staying on Windward side of island vs near hustle and bustle of Honolulu, and this property is lovely.

The property was clean, comfortable, and convenient. The owners were responsive. We took advantage of the bikes and beach chairs, umbrella, coolers. The place was great! We are thinking of bringing the family back and reserving entire property!

This unit was selected for location across from beach. Entry to unit is awkward as you walk thru another unit’s lanai. The property was listed as ‘sleeps 3’, but there is only a double bed and fold-out pad for the floor. Wicker furniture provided limited clean area to prepare food and the sink was in bathroom. Pool was lovely.

You can’t beat Kailua/Lanikai for location with fantastic beaches for wind/sail sports, swimming, even boogie boarding and minor surfing, local hiking on the pillbox trail and a walk to town with lots of great places to eat. Steve and Susie were friendly. Their son Zac will be taking over management. Was hoping for a bike upgrade since the same squeaky bikes were there 30 years ago but that’s minor. Didn’t use them this time. Other beach chairs etc were adequate and nice to be able to use. Didn’t use the pool/spa but they were clean. No good airflow with windows open, even on very windy days so had to sleep with somewhat noisy AC and fans on. The room was smaller than we expected. No place for two of us to eat. Chair at desk was too tall for legs to fit below it and we are not big. Nice to have a TV with Roku app availability and wifi. Parking spaces are small so don’t bring a big car. Even a jeep is pushing it. Our fav place to eat at was Paia Fish Market, 1.4 miles away, easy walk. Nearby kayak rental would be great but we ran out of time. The kitesurfing lessons seem very expensive, so learn someplace else before you go. Hoping to come back to Kailua again.

I had a great stay. Upon my arrival, everything was in place, neat and clean. Parking was a little tight but doable. I will definitely stay here again and definitely recommend this as the place to stay on Kailua. The beach is beautiful, and everything is close (shopping and dining) in proximity.

The location and the owners were amazing. This is our new favorite area to stay in Oahu, across the street from the amazing Kailua Beach, and a 15 minute walk to the beautiful Pillbox trail and gorgeous Lanikai Beach (that both have no nearby parking). There is a nice table to eat at next to the pool, and the bed is very soft. The yard is gorgeous. We also loved all the beach gear and big beach towels. We hope to return.

Our stay was wonderful. The location of this property is incredible, right across the street from Kailua Beach Park. The room has everything you need for a short stay/not planning to cook every meal. The pool is beautiful and refreshing. Owners are so incredibly kind and respond quickly to any inquiries, we had the chance to meet them and really enjoyed their recommendations.

This place was everything as advertised and then some. The attention to style, decorating and amenities was amazing.

I want to start by saying that this place's location is perfect, right across the street from Kailua Park and a 2-minute walk to Buzz's Restaurant. The place is small but comfortable. I didn't realize there was no kitchenette, but we made it work. The owner was downstairs and very nice and helpful. He had chairs, umbrellas, two bikes, and everything you need for a beach day. The only two things I have to mention is that the parking is quite tight. I rented a small Corolla and still had a little problem. If the other groups have large cars, then parking is a little tough. Not impossible, just a little tight. The second and the most bothersome part is the amount of little bugs. We think they are little ants. They are everywhere. We never got bit, but just annoying. This bug problem was from day one. We didn't dare eat in the room thinking this would make the problem worse. We still enjoyed our trip to one of the most beautiful places in the world, Kailua and Lanakai Beach.

Would have appreciated a better designated eating are where there wasn’t a sizable opening in door frame for ants to come in even though food was kept in refrigerator! Bathroom had bus by sink in the morning I didn’t appreciate but I love the proximity of the beaches and being able to use their beach toys

I enjoyed a week in Kailua and loved staying in the Sunshine Suite. It was so cozy with a beautiful garden and pool with a hot tub! The hospitality was wonderful and Steve helped with any questions we had about how to turn on the hot tub. So close to the beach— no need to drive— just walk down the lane, cross the street and there you are! Amazing location!

I'm struggling to review this property. The listing is accurate, and the owners are honest in regards to the pros and cons. Both were responsive to texts and VRBO messages. The room, though small, was adequate. The main reason I deduct a star was due to how hot the room was. It was humid in Hawaii and, thus, difficult to keep the apartment cool even with the A/C unit and both fans on high. The worst part is that I was jet lagged the first day and sick (weak stomach), and the heat made that situation worse. The location was convenient for us as we wanted to be near the wedding party we travelled with. It was very close to really pretty beaches and enough food options to enjoy a variety. It was also way less crowded than the Honolulu side which was a blessing when driving. Considering rental options are slim on that side of the island, I understand the high nightly price. Still, it's difficult to give rave reviews when I've stayed in immaculate 3BR beachfront condos with full kitchens, multiple swimming pools, and various amenities for the same price, even less, in Florida. You really do not get enough bang for your buck here. Because of this, I cannot give 5 stars, BUT it is still an accurate listing for this rental, and the beaches nearby are gorgeous! The property owners were kind and helpful, as well. The beach supplies were also a very nice touch, and so were the toiletries they provided. As long as you know what to expect, you will not be disappointed!

It was a challenged finding accommodations in Kailua area or nearby city in windward side of Oahu. But I am very glad to have found this hidden oasis. For a couple, the Sunrise suite is perfect, no kitchen or stove but has microwave and fridge which is enough for us. We loved walking across the street to Kailua beach park watching sunrise and swimming in the morning. Lanikai beach is also walking distance from this property for a more calmer waves, parking might be a challenge to find. The pool is available to use at this property, has beach chairs. Short drive to town’s Target and other shops. Can also hike to nearby Lanikai Pillbox. Overall experience was pleasant and wonderful. Property manager Zack, were helpful giving detailed instructions and directions, and owner Steve were also pleasant to speak with.

This is a great location, beach is beautiful and steps away. Stores and markets very close by as well as restaurants. We would definitely stay at this property again!!

We loved our time at the Kailua rental. The apartment is right across the road from Kailua Beach and a short drive to Lanikai Beach. The snorkeling at Lanikai is excellent. We also swam at Kailua most days. The rental has all the beach amenities you could need. Also,Buzzes restaurant is a short walk as well as a local store and delicious shaved ice.

Great location and exactly as described! We loved being able to walk across the street to Kailua beach park! The owners are great and communication was easy. They even have beach chairs coolers and other gear for borrowing. We would stay here again!!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Sunshine Suite in Kailua! The unit was perfectly located, just steps away from the beach, which made it incredibly convenient to enjoy the beautiful shoreline every day. The suite itself was fantastic—clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The kitchen area was especially handy, featuring a big mini fridge, microwave, and all the dishes and accompaniments we could have asked for. The small extras provided here and there made everything so convenient and added to the overall comfort of our stay. Steve was a wonderful host, offering great tips each morning as we headed out for the day. His recommendations really helped us make the most of our time in Kailua. Parking was a breeze, as there was always space available for our rented car, which made exploring the area so much easier. After a long, hot day of adventures, the onsite pool was the perfect spot to cool down and unwind. We highly recommend the Sunshine Suite for anyone looking to stay in Kailua. We were thrilled with our 10-night stay and would love to return in the future!

Perfect location, took approx 2 minutes to walk to Kailua beach, also walking distance to Lanikai beach. Beautiful pool, didn’t use though because the beach was so convenient! Nice washer and dryer for guests to use, kind host, parking was a bit rough with a bigger truck but would’ve been fine with a smaller car. Would stay here over and over again, Mahalo!
