Upscale comfort in a beautiful mountain lake setting. We fell in love with the property, the neighborhood and the two nearby quaint towns (Hiawassee, Ga and Hayesville, NC). Kathy was very responsive and accommodating
This place was a great place to get away for the weekend. For someone like me who uses crutches it was extremely accessible. I just had my husband back down the driveway (which is pretty steep) and drop my off by the boat dock to enjoy sitting out by the water. We did have a slight issue with the wifi but the owner was very responsive. Would definitely come back to this cute option.
We really enjoyed our stay at Luxury on the Lake. The apartment is furnished very well with high quality furniture, appliances and toiletries. She knew that we enjoyed our coffee and provided fresh ground coffee with all the fixins. The King sized bed was very comfortable. We spent most of our time on the patio, which overlooked Lake Chatuge and was also was very nicely furnished. We had some issues with the internet but the owner was very prompt with a back-up plan. The only draw back was the weather which was not great while we were there. The patio is covered so we were able to enjoy sitting on the patio without getting wet.
My husband and I needed to get away for some R&R, and we were delighted to discover this lovely suite. Even though we visited in March, and didn't swim or use the kayaks, the beauty of the mountain lake was a feast for our eyes making our stay what we were looking for. Our favorite spot was the porch sitting at the round table. We read books, sipped wine, and ate several of our meals there. An unexpected pleasure was the varying types of weather. We had two days of mid-70's and then we had a rainy day that dropped the temperature into the high 40's. At times it was actually stormy and watching the heavy rain falling into the lake, making it roll, was very entertaining. The only thing that was a surprise to me, and it wasn't anything that the owners caused, was I failed to notice that on the amenities list that a clothes washer and dryer aren't listed. We packed light, so my oversight caused us to wear the same clothes a couple of days longer than normal. Something that might make me slightly different from other guests is that I use a manual wheelchair. So, I'd like to give some helpful information to other wheelchair users about this rental. The suite is listed as wheelchair accessible but there are some barriers. However, because my husband is an able-bodied person, we were able to make the accommodations work. Where you park is very level, but the outside furniture on the porch had to moved to allow my wheelchair to get to the entrance door. To enter the sliding door, my wheelchair had to be tipped back. Once inside, the flooring is tiled making maneuvering down the wide hallway to the bathroom easy. The bedroom has carpet and the bed is at a good level to stand and transfer onto it. In the den my husband had to move furniture to allow me to get to the card table that we brought with us to eat at because the eating table that's there is bar-height with stools. Regarding the bathroom, the toilet is low, so we brought a riser. There is a handheld shower head in the shower, but there isn't a shower chair so you will need to bring your own. Also, in March the lake is down, so the walkway to the dock was too steep for my husband to wheel down safely. Please know that in no way this information is meant to be a complaint. Kathy, did her best to give me a correct description of the suite so that we could determine if it would work for me.
My husband and I often stay around Lake Chatuge. We are so happy to have found this property. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a nice bottle of wine. The property itself is amazing, spotless and the bed was super comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the outside seating area is superb to sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery. Also, thanks to the owner’s neighbor Holli, who made sure we were happy and comfortable during our stay. The highest complement I can give is that both my husband and I would not hesitate to book this property again.
My wife and I had a great week staying in Hayesville, and the property and hospitality were top notch. This is a very relaxing property right on the lake- with tons of hikes and nice restaurants close by. OR you can stay home and enjoy the lake and kayak or just enjoy the view. We will be back.
This is a great property and Kathy was very thorough and anticipated our needs. She is a great communicator! There are a lot of extras, making this feel like home. We had everything we needed. We loved being able to paddle board and swim from the dock!
This beautiful rental is a great place to relax. It is obvious from the 1st moment you enter that the owners did not cut corners on provisions provided in this home. From the stocked kitchen to the Turkish cotton towels and amazingly comfortable bed. Now for me I was a little concerned about the TV (yes even with the beautiful lake, I like TV) so in the pictures you see the large TV in the living room area and also nice size in the bedroom, but just a brief smart TV description, so I wondered what channels. Well let me tell you ALL OF THEM you will not be disappointed by the selection. Just know if this is available, don't delay you will not be disappointed.
Kathy was a wonderful host and made my friend and I feel right at home. Her basement was beautifully finished and furnished, and she provided so many additional thoughtful touches. When we arrived we had a delicious bottle of wine with wine glasses waiting out for us. She also provided coffee, tea, creamer, and snacks! The kitchen is small but has everything you need for cooking during a short stay. There was a Samsung PowerGrill Duo which functioned as a neat combination air fryer/microwave/convection oven that I honestly wish I had. After a particularly embarrassing incident where we accidentally set off the smoke alarm trying to get used to the induction cooktop, she brought down an air purifier to help clear out the smoke (and she was graciously understanding about the whole thing). Kathy gave us some great tips on things to do like a walking trail along Lake Chatuge dam, some local wineries, and a Friday night concert. The view from the porch is beautiful with the mountains in the background of the lake. We didn't get to try the kayaks but it's neat that they are offered! And walking in the neighborhood at sunset with all the fireflies was magical and made for some awesome photos. The linens and towels really are luxury! You sink right into the soft bed with its down comforter, and the towels are amazingly fluffy (would love to know the brand by the way). The smart TV is a great size and we spend an entire day comfortably binge watching Netflix. One suggestion I would give it to add some more labels on the switches because it took a minute before we figured out what each one did and how to turn everything off and on. And also, having a brief instruction manual of the induction cooktop and Samsung PowerGrill would be helpful to those who have never used them. We weren't sure initially if we could use foil in it since it functioned as a fryer and convection oven, and Googled the manual and found out that using metal is only OK in certain settings. So it may be a good idea for everyone's safety to include that in the House Manual or somewhere in the kitchen. Overall, we had an awesome stay, made a good friend, and wouldn't hesitate to come back. Thanks Kathy!
