We loved our stay at the Custer Rambler! Loved having laundry and a kitchenette. Loved the location--walkable to downtown Custer for dinner, shopping, ice cream! There is a park a few blocks away for kids. Grocery store literally across the street. We loved having the apartment to ourselves--no noisy neighbors! Loved the location in the Black Hills/Custer State park area. The owners were very responsive. We had no issues with the property--the property was very clean! Beds were comfy. They have thought of all the details to make your stay great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Johnny Cash Rambler on Main. The accommodations were great - it had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The location was great - you're right on the main street so we could walk everywhere. We were also minutes away from Custer State Park. We would definitely book there again!

We came to Custer over the 4th of July. Sarah had great communication in the beginning. We booked this property because it stated no pets! I received my pre-check in questionnaire and it asked how many pets are we bringing. I sent a message to Sarah asking about the no pet policy and she said that was correct. I told her we have very bad allergies to pets and needed confirmation that no pets have been in this vrbo. She confirmed. We arrive around 1:00 am and as soon as I opened the door it was like hitting a brick wall. Instant headache and congestion. I can smell pets a mile away and there were definitely pets in this room. I emailed and asked about it and Sarah said no pets have been there. As we are looking through the information on the coffee table, it states pets are allowed if you stay at least 3 days. I also asked about that and she said that is paperwork from the old owners and they forgot to remove it. Now as I’m reading the reviews, pets have been allowed and she was the owner or manager a year ago! Now 3 days later I am still suffering from severe pet allergies. I would never have booked had I known this. The smell was horrible. The carpet in the the living room area was filthy and hasn’t been cleaned in awhile. The bed is hard as a rock. It’s a cute property but beware if you have pet allergies! She said she would have it deep cleaned so I hope that happens! We never did receive check out instructions so follow the instructions listed on the refrigerator.

Property was as wonderful as advertised. Sarah was easy to communicate with. The unit was clean, bed comfortable, heat worked great, mini kitchen just right, nice shower, and bonus small washer and dryer. It sits right on the Main Street in town where you can walk to grocery, shops, and restaurants. Parking is a short walk around the corner, but we did pull up to the door for loading and unloading. This is a studio type unit where there is a partial partition from the living area and bed area, but not a door. The bed sits off the kitchenette area. Only drawback is some road noise, which we were aware of, but they have a floor air purifier that helped a ton. The unit is very central to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave National Monument, and Wind Cave National Park. Plan on a day for each and leave time for Needles Highway and the Wildlife Loop!

We had a great time. The apartment was lovely. It smelled so clean. The book was a great resource. It would have been great to know the history of the house and the saddle in the window. Thanks for the pass to Custer State Park.

Lovely property with convenient access to all the Black Hills locations, esp. Custer State Park. Walkable to restaurants and grocery. Fun decor. There was some road noise but a sound machine was available. The washer and dryer was an added convenience. Management was very responsive when we had a question. Would absolutely stay here again!

Property as described. Noise from highway during daylight working hours as we had read about prior to going. Location excellent. Very close, in downtown area. All within walking distance. Clean and everything we needed right there which is much appreciated. Mattress on bed could be upgraded. A bit hard. Great communication with owner. Code to enter the door only worked once. We used the key in the lock box after that. Thank you for the great place to stay!

We spent 5 nights in the apt. The pros: LOCATION. We were within 4 blocks to the restaurants we wanted to visit. There is a small grocery across the street. The apt is well appointed with everything we needed. CONS; It is on the main street and morning until about 8pm it is quite noisy. The bed is quite hard and the roku system was difficult to maneauver. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons.
