Mijas, Andalusia
You will love this bright and characterful apartment with its peaceful south-facing terrace garden, just a short stroll away from the historic centre of Mijas Pueblo, a picturesque Andalucian mountain village. Part of a community complex, with a shared pool (UNLIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE IN 2024 DUE TO DROUGHT) and sun terrace, it has everything you need, including sea views, terrace, secure parking, aircon, WiFi and TV. It sleeps four people. We live locally, so are on hand if needed. We welcome you with a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit, so your holiday can start right away.
This cheerful and comfortable apartment is well looked after and boasts a lovely terrace garden with flowering plants and herbs. Though part of a community – which gives you access to our lovely pool and sun terrace with breath-taking views – the apartment is tucked away from the holiday action round the pool, so you can retire to peace and privacy when it's Siesta time.
The main living area has a sofa and comfy chairs, a large dining table, side table and a cabinet with books (English, German, Spanish) for the bookworms among you. We have fast fibre-optic WiFi, TV (with UK channels via internet), DVD and CD players.
The kitchen has everything you need - hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, all the utensils, as well as a range of teas and spices - and you can even throw in some fresh herbs which we grow on the terrace – and basic store items.
The main bedroom, which is next to the living room, has a comfy super-kingsize bed, a spacious wardrobe, chest of drawers, a table, chairs and large mirror. The ensuite bathroom has a bath and a good, strong shower.
The second bedroom, which has access to the shared back patio with plants, has a large wardrobe, dressing table with mirror, and two single beds (one stashed underneath the other if not needed).
The second bathroom has a shower cubicle and a washing machine. We also have a drying rack.
We provide cotton sheets, towels, pool towels, shampoo, soap, a hairdryer, an iron and electric plug adapters for UK and US appliances.
The terrace garden, which runs along the front of the apartment, is south-facing with superb views down to the Mediterranean Sea, and can be accessed from both the living room and main bedroom through french windows. It has a large solid dining table and wooden chairs, as well as reclining chairs for relaxing in the sun, and bookshelves.
We’ll do our best to make you comfortable, and apart from giving you wine and an array of fruits on arrival, we’ll provide you with a bottle of water and the makings of a quick pasta meal so you don't have to rush off to the supermarket first thing. Especially handy if your plane arrives late at night! Upon request we even do your food shopping for you. Just send us a list of what you require a day or two before you arrive and we'll get it for you.
Swimming pool and sun terrace:
+++ PLEASE NOTE that, due to the severe drought in Andalucia and official measures restricting water usage, our community swimming pool is unlikely to be available through the 2024 season. However, the sea is just a 15/20-minute drive away. +++
During the July/August high season the community swimming pool and sun terrace area can get quite crowded. It is not a large pool, and for safety reasons there are strict community rules about using it and the adjoining sun terrace, which must be complied with by all in order to retain our pool license. Briefly these are:
* Opening hours 10am to 8pm
* Anybody not staying in an apartment in the community is not allowed to use pool and sun terrace, including family and friends staying elsewhere
* No jumping into the pool
* No inflatables
* Quiet period during "siesta" hours
* No reserving sunbeds or sunshades
* No drinking glasses or bottles
* No food to be consumed
* No music except through personal headphones
So if your aim is to have a relaxing holiday sitting by the pool with the kids, it may not be the perfect location for you, and you may want to try for a place with a private pool.
Getting around:
The apartment comes with secure private off-street parking, in case you want to hire a car. If you’re driving, bear in mind that the streets in Mijas Pueblo are narrow and mostly one-way, which means most people get lost the first time. So if you’re coming by car, give us a call and we can meet you at the BP station at the entrance to the village and guide you through.
If you don't want to hire a car, you can take a taxi from/to Malaga Airport (just a 20mins to half-hour drive). A cheaper option is the train from the airport to Fuengirola (40mins). There you can catch the M122 bus to Mijas Pueblo (15min journey), where the bus terminates. We will meet you at the bus stop, which is just a 10 minute walk from the apartment.
Hiring a car is a good idea to make the most of the area, but you don’t need one. The apartment is in the village and everything you need is within walking distance. Public transport here is good and reliable. There are regular buses from the Pueblo down to the coast (Fuengirola and Benalmadena) or to Coin, inland. An excellent trainline runs along the coast from Fuengirola to Malaga, including an airport stop. Trains run every 20 mins, they are punctual, clean and air-conditioned. You could even visit destinations further away, for example Granada or Ronda, without the use of a car as coach travel here is cheap, comfortable and reliable.
Anja and Steve’s place has everything you need for a perfect stay.Comfy beds beautifully equipped kitchen great views from lovely garden terrace watch donkeys going by in the morning .Anja & Steve are perfect hosts . We hope to return soon. Christine
Wonderful place and enjoyable stay. The place feels homie and the owners were very kind, accommodating, and helpful. Our flight had a last minute cancellation and the owners were able to solve our accommodation problem by replying to us after hours. 5*
Mijas Pueblo is indeed a magical place. The apartment, owned by Steve and Anja Warin, is fully equipped, and if something is missing, Steve snd Anja will see to it staight away. I was looking for a funnel. They brought me three. The toaster stopped working. They brought me a new one the very next day. Attention to detail abounds in this rental from an ironing board and iron to a basket of needles and thread for mending. There’s even a dishwasher - helpful for cleanup after cooking for a crowd. There are written instructions everywhere for operating household appliances and if all else fails Steve or Anja are right there to help. I can’t say enough good things about this very friendly and highly competent couple. The apartment is spacious and very clean. The terrace is large and well appointed. The views are spectacular. The apartment is located about a ten minute walk past cafes, restaurants and shops to the pueblo centro where you can catch a bus to local destinations. On Wednesdays and Saturdays flamenco dancers and musicians entertain very enthusiastic onlookers in two different pueblo locations. Be sure to bring good walking shoes. A good many of the streets are cobble-stoned and there are short but rather steep hills to the pueblo center. My two month stay was magical in another sense. I got to meet and know Steve and Anja, and came home grateful for their help, attention to detail, and patience with the myriad of questions a guest might entertain them with. Lovely hosts, lovely place.
Fabulous apartment, so well equipped it was like home from home. The views are amazing from the balcony & even better from the roof top pool area, which we had to ourselves most of the time. Very central location, 5 minutes to the nearest supermarket at most. Steve & Anja went above & beyond to welcome us to Mijas. Thank you both so much.
Would highly recommend. Great view and perfect for a family. Picturesque village, gorgeous pool and apartment. You will not want for anything during your stay. Attention to detail and cleanliness is apparent. Most homely stay we have experienced. Attentive lovely owners . Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hope to return soon.
We had a fabulous stay at Steve and Anja’s spacious apartment in Mijas. For self catering, the supply of basics went above and beyond, meaning we could take our time settling in before rushing off to the shops. The pool was great, with sun beds, parasols and loo’s all to hand. The views down to the coast from both the pool and apartment balcony we’re stunning. It’s our first holiday in a long time we went without a car and we didn’t miss it one bit. Just 20mins from Malaga airport by taxi (of which there were plenty) and 5-10 minute walk from shops, restaurants and play park. We used the bus for an occasional trip to Fuengirola and got an Uber back without any issues. We’d highly recommend this place to anyone who asked!
Beautifully clean and so we'll equipped. The hosts were very welcoming and knowledgeable. There were loads of little touches, which you never seem to get with other rentals. Far too many to list, but just having milk in the fridge, so we could at least have a brew before unpacking was great. Found it so easy getting to and from Malaga via train and bus, the whole journey cost less than €10 for the two of us. Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day
Lovely clean, comfortable, well equipped apartment. Everything you could need was supplied in the kitchen and throughout to make your stay in the apartment a pleasure. The owners were welcoming & readily available to offer assistance if required. Thanks from us?
This was lovely Villa to stay in great views from terrace and very well situated to all shops,Restaurants and bars would recommend this villa to anyone . Thanks Stephen and Anji
This was a 10 day winter break to meet up with family and play golf and this property in the beautiful Mijas Pueblo was perfect. The apartment was tastefully decorated, so well equipped and had amazing views. To walk to all the local bars and restaurants as well as private underground parking was great. Anja and Steve we so friendly and helpful and we will likely return.
