The apartment was nice enough and the location was fabulous. However, checking in and out was much more difficult than it should have been. The keys to the apartment were held in a small box at a convenience store and a code was given to open the box. However, we were given directions to the wrong convenience store. After a number of calls, all was finally resolved. After an overnight flight to get to Paris, this was not fun. We were given an apartment number and told what floor it was on. However, we weren’t told that the apartments didn’t actually have numbers on them and we weren’t given directions to the apartment (hint: it’s through the inner garden and to the left). There were a couple of unusual aspects of the house that would have been useful to have had instructions on. One has to turn the door handle up to lock the door, otherwise you can’t turn the key all the way. To open the bed, there is a strap behind the back of the centre of the couch, not at all obvious. When it was time to leave, we were told to take the keys to the convenience store and give them to the clerk. However, they didn’t know what we were talking about, they just tried to coach us through how to put them back in the keynest, but the code on the fob wouldn’t work. After we got settled in, it was a fine place, but getting settled was fairly more onerous than it should have been.

This property is well located, tucked away from the street, very quiet with a lovely garden outlook. Easy access to Metro, Le Marais, restaurants and other services. Access on arrival was the only small issue. Acquiring the keys was straight forward. At the property, in the pouring rain, there had been no mention that the security blind would be lowered; the access instructions need to be updated to refer to the remote attached to the keys. It is disappointing when you send messages having been told “we will respond to your request “ and receive nothing in return.

Pros. Quiet apartment set amidst beautifully landscaped courtyards. Steps from excellent transportation (metro and bus). Two grocery stores, a green grocer and the best cheese shop (Laurent Dubois) in Paris are all within a block. All the shops that one could wish for in the area - from BHV to tiny boutiques. Cons. The rug was dirty and stained. The mattress was thin with squeaky springs. (I was alone…). There was no information regarding TV, the window shutters, the convertible couch. This apartment is managed by a company called “Guest Ready”. I could not reach them on the weekend. They replied to my requests by EM in French. My French a passable but I often had to ask for a translation. The Marais is a wonderful place to stay. Lots of shops and museums. The apartment is located a few blocks from the Seine to the south and less than a 10 minute walk to the canal St. Martin. Both lovely for long leisurely walks or a picnic. And, don’t the miss the Place des Voges where you can walk and sit on the grass.
