Durham, North Carolina
This 2nd floor three bedroom flat is like a front row seat overlooking all that Downtown Durham has to offer. Numerous restaurants, bars, stores and other points of interest like Duke's East Campus are within a few blocks of the house. If your goal is to explore Downtown Durham, this is the place for you. In addition to the three bedrooms, bathroom and eating nook, the apartment has a large living room brimming with natural light and perfect for working from home or other purposes.
Please note: with it's proximity to Main St, Brightleaf Square and Shooters - this is not the ideal spot for a silent retreat! Expect some city background noise of people & traffic during the day. Weekend evenings will be active, sometimes into the wee hours and especially during the school year. We do provide white noise machines in each bedroom, but it does not drown out undergrads at midnight ;-). Please consider yourself warned!
Please note: Due to the ongoing pandemic, guests are expected to abide by CDC/WHO guidelines, as well as all North Carolina and Durham Covid-19 guidelines. As of March 7, 2022, indoor mask mandates have been lifted in Durham County. Many private restaurants and arts venues are requiring proof of vaccination to enter. Full up-to-date orders can be seen at ncdotgov.
We do ask that guests are relatively quiet after 10 PM, as a courtesy to neighbors and other guests. Note that it is an old house, and sound does travel through the wood floors!
Parties and loud groups are not permitted. Thanks for helping us be good neighbors.
Smoking or vaping of any substances is not permitted on the property.
The entire second floor apartment will be yours to enjoy, as will the lovely front porch.
There are apartments on the first floor, however they have a separate entrance. There is no access from the downstairs apartment to the upstairs apartment.
Built in 1910, the house has lots of character, featuring hardwood floors, high ceilings and historic details. You can see the evolution from home to hair salon to CPA firm and back to apartment in the unique fixtures throughout.
There's a spacious kitchenette with mini-fridge, coffee maker, toaster oven and dual induction burners - perfect for making quick meals or heating up take out. Plus, the basic implements you'll need!
A large living room includes a couch to lounge on and table for meals or working.
Other amenities include:
* Ample on-site parking
* Surrounded by restaurants, shops and nightlife, easy walking distance to Brightleaf, Duke University, Ninth Street and Downtown Durham
* Pets are welcome (with one time $30 pet fee per pet), as long as they are well behaved, and not likely to make too much noise or damage the property
* Please note: as NC opens back up, the commercial district adjacent to this apartment is also coming back to life! That includes bars frequented by local students - and means that on the weekends street traffic can be loud into the early hours. If you're familiar with Shooter's 2 - this is across the street!
