Drapes Design Apartments occupies the former Madeira Embroidery Factory, today transformed into a modern building where each floor pays tribute to a traditional stitching technique. The second floor consists of two connected studios, each with a double bed, bathroom, and fully equipped kitchenette. Together, they accommodate up to four guests, making this floor ideal for families, couples travelling together, or guests who want more privacy.

The building features a shared rooftop terrace, complete with an outdoor kitchen and seating area, perfect for relaxing at the end of the day. A shared laundry room is also available for guest use.

AREA
A few metres from this property is the Edifício Anadia, a shopping centre with several shops, cafes, restaurants and a supermarket, in a privileged central area, right in the heart of the city of Funchal. A stone's throw from the Lavradores Market and the Old Town of Funchal, from here you can explore on foot the several touristic points of our beautiful city (ex. Cable Car, Funchal Marina, CR7 Museum, Sé Catedral, Madeira Wine Lodge, etc...).
At the building's exit you have an excellent connection to the local bus network and to the entire island, covering the east and west zones, so you won't need to walk far if you want to enjoy these services.

GETTING AROUND
With a bus stop practically at the doorstep, transport will be no problem for our guests.
Although the airport aerobus stops a 2-minute walk away, we recommend our private transfer partners, usually cheaper than airport taxis. Let us know in advance if you’d like to book this service.

ACCESS TO PROPERTY
Guests have exclusive access to the entire first floor (both studios) and to all shared areas of the building, including the rooftop terrace and the laundry room.
There is no elevator in the building. Access to the apartment is via stairs only.

INTERACTION
We are always available to help or answer questions. We do our best to reply all requests. We also have an app for guests with all the important information about the property and other useful information for your stay.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (E.g. passport, identity card).
- Check-in must be scheduled in advance. In case the check-in is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours prior arrival, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also provide a crib, a baby high chair and a baby bathtub if needed. First aid kit, fire extinguisher and fire blanket are available in all properties.

ATTENTION
Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Funchal. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax.

HOUSE RULES

To ensure a pleasant stay for everyone, we ask that you observe a few simple rules.

• Smoking is not permitted inside the property.
• Parties or events are not permitted.
• We ask that you be considerate of the neighbours and keep noise levels down, especially at night.

The property may be equipped with a smart sensor (Minut) that monitors noise, smoke and temperature levels, solely for safety reasons. This system does not record conversations or collect personal data. Should abnormal levels be detected, you may receive a message from our team asking you to check the situation.

In accordance with Portuguese law, all guests must present valid identification for registration.

A municipal tourist tax may be charged (€2 per person per night, up to a maximum of 7 nights).

Check-in: from 4 pm. Early check-in is subject to availability and payment of a fee.
Check-out: by 12:00. Late check-out is subject to availability and payment of a fee.

By making a booking, the guest accepts the house rules and terms of stay.

    Rented both adjoining units on second floor. No elevator. Very nice place. Fully equipped kitchens. One also has a dishwasher. Very easy check in with the keycode at the door. The 4th floor rooftop terrace is the greatest. Sea view with tables, full kitchen, bathroom and laundry room (no charge). Location is perfect. Central to everything. So many cafes, bars, restaurants within minutes walk. Next door is Pingo Doce grocery store which has everthing. And there is a bus stop outside the door. And an AeroBus stop which is 6 Euros from or to airport or you can taxi it for 25-30. Highly recommend this place if you don't require an elevator.

    Great location if you have a problem with Madiera's hills. Easy access to buses, bars and restaurants.

    Slap bang in town,couldn't be in a better location for access to all parts of the city. Everything is on the doorstep, the bus stop is actually directly on it. Spotlessly clean and more than comfortable enough for a city break. Every conceivable utensil in the kitchen. Good shower. Excellent wi fi. Would definitely stay here again.

    We were initially concerned about the Location as on a busy road with street access behind a busy bus stop. However, once inside the modern glass door (pin code access) everything about the double apartment 2A on second floor (easy stairs) was faultless. Double glazing and air conditioning meant the road was irrelevant. I’ve never stayed in an apartment as well equipped (even a dishwasher!), spacious and clean as this. BBC and Sky news kept us in touch. We had a small private terrace at the back as well as the big shared roof terrace, with great sea views from both the flat and the roof terrace. Almost opposite the central Funchal Market, with the old town restaurants (including a great fado place) and poncha bars, towards the fort in one direction or the main shopping street in the other, with the seafront very close. No steep hills to negotiate unlike the main hotel areas! Highly recommended.

    It was a great apartment and all the communication with An Island Apartments was good and straight forward. They were very accommodating and ensured to do their best to fulfill our requests. Apartment was very modern and quiet and located perfectly.
