Stayed Dec 12, 2024Great Location - near Buddy Guy's, near 11 City Diner, Harrison and Roosevelt L stations, Trader Joe's, the Lake, Art Institute, museums, etc. There are 45 degree angled views of both Sears Tower and the Lake/Navy Pier. There is also a roof deck on the lakeside that's a public space and has incredibly wonderful views. The apartment was small, not quite a tiny home, and it had everything I needed. I was just one person and I think they might limit to two or three total, and that makes sense giving the somewhat small layout. Thank you, hosts, for having such a great place available. I had a great time going to theater and museums, just walking around Chicago, taking the L, etc, and I plan to come back. Thanks again!

Stayed Sep 19, 2024Hi, we were in Chicago for a conference and then a few days of sightseeing. You cannot beat the location of this apt. It is walking distance to downtown and to the beautiful parks along the lake, and to so many other great places. No shortage of restaurants nearby and great coffee!! The building is an historic one--site of the publishing of Jet and Ebony magazines, so this is truly a Chicago landmark. Given that, we were a bit disappointed at the upkeep of the building. For example, the rugs in the hallways were quite stained and dirty. One must take the stairway up from the 11th to 12th floor (unless using the service elevator, which was pretty dirty on our arrival when we had our luggage, so that was the only time we used it.). The stairway also had some trash on the floor that was not cleaned up in the week we were there. The apt itself was fine. It was clean. A bit untended in terms of some wear on the walls, but really it was fine. I would suggest some additional hooks for hanging towels and clothes. Also, a full length mirror would be a nice addition. The little view of the lake from the living room window was nice. All in all, this is a fine place to stay in a great neighborhood in Chicago, which is such a great city!! Thanks

Stayed Aug 18, 2024Access is via a service elevator that is used for trash as well as people. We frequently shared the lift with flying insects. The fob to enter the unit is in a lockbox. There is only one fob. If people are going to return at differing times they ask you to put the fob back in the lockbox. During our entire stay, the lockbox did not lock so we would be leaving the unit open had we followed these instructions. Despite numerous communications with the property manager, it was never fixed despite assurances that it would be done. The security block above the deadbolt on the door was sheared off and no one had made any effort to repair it. While there, a maintenance worker came to repair the broken dishwasher. He could not and would have to arrange a service from GE. The faucets were falling off the kitchen sink and the one in the bathroom was loose as well. The location was great, the bed was comfortable, and we felt the building was safe. Given our problems I do feel we are entitled to some form of compensation for the condition of the unit.

Stayed Jul 13, 2024The unit is on the top floor with easy access to the roof balcony - a great view of the lake and the Saturday & Wednesday fireworks. It is a cosy place, with washer / dryer when you walk in, a nice bathroom, not cramped or crowded at all, and clean with plenty of towels if you want to take a second shower one day. The bedroom is close and the bed comfortable, fitting a lot into a small space. The mattress is comfy and didn't transmit a lot of motion from my partner's moves. And the kitchen/living area are very nice. Comfortable sofa and complete kitchen. Dishwasher is quiet, we ran it twice, and we had plenty of outlets for our electronics. The TV got the LG channels so we could stay on top of a couple shows we watch, and had some streaming services. We were able to bring our puppy, and the immediate access to Grant's Park was a blessing - we were able to get to the ground floor and to the park in minutes which was great in the mornings and afternoons. Our hosts were wonderful and communicative. We loved working with them. We even told them about some of the building issues we saw, like a leaking roof in the hallway, a broken lockbox and faucet handle, and they were very appreciative.

Stayed Apr 16, 2024We loved our stay here! The location was great and accessible, and parking was close by. Grant Park and Millennium Park were within minutes! The property itself was so dreamy and made our stay feel like a second home. A bonus was that everyone in the building was so nice and friendly, too! Book this place and you won’t regret it!
