We felt at home immediately. The look, vibe and even the smell reminded us of the cabin we grew up in. We swam, kayaked, grilled and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We spent many happy summers in Iron River and loved being back. A visit to the Historical Society, thrifting, terrific pizza, great selection at the grocery store and a trip to Cornucopia to see the “big lake.” Stopped at the cemetery and shopped the Bunkhouse. A dip in Moon Lake and a meal at the A&W made this a perfect trip!

This is our second year staying at the Deer Trail lodges. We have loved our experiences so much that we are trying to start a tradition of going every year. The cabin is rustic and cozy. One of my favorite memories is going down to the dock and a tching the stars. We enjoyed kayaking, bonfires, watching movies with cider, and just being in a fall oriented space.

This place is as advertised. No it’s not a 5 star resort, there were some issues, but completely manageable and did not affect the overall experience! Management was extremely responsive to the small issues encountered and resolved. Peaceful experience

Nice area and lake, close to Brule for canoeing, they had easy access to kayaks and row boats which was a huge plus. It was a quiet area and overall an amazing stay, we would stay there again. The only draw back was our cabin was pretty humid which a de-humidifier would take care of. Also the property could have used a little more TLC. Fine for a cabin but a little more care would go a long way. Would recommend to my friends and family!

The cabin and its location was better than I expected! I am pleased on how there were boats, canoes, and kayaks available to borrow at no extra cost. We were the only guests that weekend so having the entire place to ourselves made the entire stay more fantastic! Would definitely come back again!

Ended up being a perfect location with Birkie start and finish in Cable this year. Cabin easily accommodated two people. Kitchen and supplies in it were very adequate for cooking dinner for ourselves. Lake view is great. Easy to find.
