Summary:
Stunning newly renovated condos nestled near the sand dunes, offering the perfect coastal retreat. Just steps away from Pirate’s, the island’s top-rated restaurant, and a short drive to the best beaches Dauphin Island has to offer. Come relax and enjoy our beautiful home by the sea!

The Space:
This property features four units, and this one is located downstairs. Each unit offers a private seating area with a grill, perfect for outdoor relaxation while enjoying stunning sand dune views. The nearest public beach access is just half a mile away, making it easy to enjoy the sun and surf!

Guest Access:
This ground-floor unit is part of a four-unit complex and features a private patio where you can relax and take in the serene views of the sand dunes.

The Neighborhood:
The 164-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary is just down the road. The sanctuary is a well-known destination for birdwatchers in search of one of the hundreds of species that live in and migrate through the sanctuary year-round, such as herons and pelicans. Visitors can take a walking tour though the palmetto palms where they can experience the birds in the lush native flora and fauna of the island.

The Mobile Bay Ferry is located just a short drive away. The ferry, which departs every hour and a half during the day, transports passengers to the historic Fort Morgan located in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Just past the ferry is a popular boat launch on the island, where anglers launch their boats sunrise to sundown. Boat trailer parking for the boat launch can be tricky, especially during summer months, so Alvarado’s close proximity to the launch makes it an ideal location for anglers because of the extended boat parking offered to guests. Each unit can accommodate one boat trailer in addition to their parking.

The Dauphin Island Estuarium, an aquarium that is home to more than 100 different species of native Alabama marine life, and the historic Fort Gaines, where you can find guided tours of the 1821 fort that protected Mobile Bay during the Civil War, are both located within one mile of the property as well. There are three public beaches on Dauphin Island — the East End Public Beach, Bienville Beach and the West End Public Beach.

With the almost dozen restaurants and snack bars on the island, there’s no shortage of local fare and fresh seafood. Almost every menu on the island serves up the freshest seafood in the South, including freshly caught snapper, grouper, oysters and crab. During the summer there are outdoor movies shown on the West End of the island, and the Dauphin Island Fishing Rodeo during July brings more than 75,000 spectators to the island for a weekend of fun and sports fishing. Even though the island is small (it’s only 14 miles long and less than 2 miles wide or less, in some areas), it offers an endless amount of activities for vacationers, including an 18-hole golf course and endless water activities. Boat, jet ski, stand-up-paddleboard and kayak rentals are available, as well as sunset cruises and beach access to most of the 17 miles of powder, white sand beaches that wrap around the island.

These offerings, in addition to deep-sea fishing and diving, make this Gulf Coast sanctuary one of the top destinations for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Gulf. We hope you enjoy your stay and enjoy exploring the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast during your visit!

Getting Around:
Because of the ideal location of this property, guests can take a quick drive or easily bike or walk to nearby attractions and restaurants. Although there is no public transportation, there are miles of walking and biking trails around the island that makes getting around a breeze. Bikes and golf carts are available to rent on the island! The Dauphin Island website is a great resources to stay up to date with events on Dauphin Island.

Other Things to Note:
The laundry facilities are located in a separate building behind the house, featuring four full-size washers and dryers for your convenience. This home sits at the base of the sand dunes, about one mile from the nearest beach access. Pet-friendly with a $100 fee per dog, per stay (75lb max). Sorry, no cats! Dogs who are categorized as dangerous or aggressive according the ASPCA are not allowed. Please let us know if you're bringing more than one furry friend so we can add the appropriate pet fee, as the Airbnb website does not have a spot for us to add the fee for a second dog . I’ve stayed here before. Easy stay and close to everything: food, beach, shopping, ferry. My only complaint which is trivial as it is July in Alabama is that it was too hot our first night in the bedroom. However, found a fan in a closet and much better the next night!

Me and my wife had unit 2 little but nice, but I will not get down stairs again we had a couple with kids and for the last 3 days we were there, they started running and jumping off the furniture around 7pm to 10pm and it was very loud and annoying, there is no sound barrier whatsoever, that is the only downside of the stay, but even without the kids you can still here every footsteps from the adults,

Clean well stocked- make sure you bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Tv in living room has lines at the bottom of the screen and the one in the bedroom would not stay on- other than that we loved our stay.

Location was alright much longer walk to the beach than expected and I walk quickly and my dog is young. First thing I noticed was windows were very dirty left over morning cereal left on the kitchen floor and the settee had some smal stains on it. I decided to leave the next day instead of staying my full 5 days.

The beds were great, nice and clean. Everything was furnished. It helped that it had a washer and dryer for our use. Would recommend it to people.

My daughter and her friends went for their senior trip. The condo seems very upkept in the photos but that was misleading. They found several roaches everywhere in the condo. I have reached out to owners and vrbo with no response. We will not be staying here again.

The biggest issue was the noise in the bunk bed room. We could not sleep in there and had to sleep on the couch. There was a stale/wet blanket smell throughout the whole place. An air freshener situation of some sort would go a long way. The remote was under the bed in the middle and we could not reach it so that bedroom was also not “as expected”. There is also trash under the bed and a vase in the corner covering a gigantic roach. Not the experience we were hoping for unfortunately

Check in was exactly at 3 pm. But you are literally 2 blocks from the ocean and waiting should never be a boring issue. Apartment was very bright and clean. Nice sitting area out back. Very quiet neighborhood. I did try to take a nap after driving 11 hours but when I turned the bed back the sheets were very damp. Clean but too damp to lay on. The bathroom has no storage and is very small. Would be hard to manage with kids. No dishwasher but I don’t have one at home either. We would definitely stay here again. The price was get.

Two of my sons and myself came down for my daughter's baby shower. We loved the rental unit. It was very clean, organized, and supplied. I plan on coming back down for a week in April with my wife and staying. We both love Dauphin Island.

For the price this place was incredible! Host communicated perfectly, the place is modernized and fresh, and the street is quiet. The master bed was too soft and unsupportive for our middle aged backs, though for the price we can’t complain we just want others to know what they’re getting!great trip!!
