apartment for a couple, well located, close to the subway station and broadway theaters, quiet and with good food places around
My sister and I met up to go to the Westminster Dog Show. The location of the apartment was between Madison Square Garden and Pier 94, which were the two locations the dog show took place. Seeing as we were on 8th Ave., we brought ear plugs to help drown out the street noise which worked great. Apartment was larger than we thought it would be. I found the futon was actually comfortable. The place is worn but everything worked and having coffee in the morning, along with a frig to keep snacks and such cold was helpful. I would rent here again.
The good: *) The place was very clean *) It's an easy walk to almost any Broadway theater *) It's fairly spacious for Manhattan. *) It's only one flight up the stairs The bad: *) It's noisy. It overlooks 8th Avenue, so there is traffic noise, horns, and sirens pretty much 24 hours a day.
This place is modest but comfortable and *extremely* clean. Like, so spotless I was actually in awe. Check-in was a breeze. Capri was super-responsive when a special need arose. The location can't be beat. Would definitely stay here again.
Everything was exactly as expected. The manager was extremely responsive and helpful. And it was in the perfect location for everything New Year’s Eve! Easy walking distance to restaurant Row and Broadway.
We had everything we needed while we were here. Our flight was delayed and we didn’t arrive until about 1:30 in the morning and staff at the gift shop waited on us to arrive and let us in. Yes, their is street noise, but it’s New York so unless you’re sleeping well off the beaten path, you are going to have noise! Didn’t bother us a bit.
In the heart of the theater district. The apartment faced 8th avenue so there is always traffic, but we got used to it. Easy to get anywhere you want by subway.
This was a nice little apartment in the heart of everything. While it was small, it was bigger than I expected and more than enough room for 3 of us. The street noise was quite lout (September long weekend), but the a/c and fans drowned out the sound enough. We didn't need anything this didn't offer.
Except for multiple issues with the TV, this was a great place and a great experience!
The apartment itself is a little tired, but everything worked. I'll give you a list of pros and cons. Cons first: Beds and pillows VERY uncomfortable No lamps, only overhead lights (no good if you like to read) 2 of 3 chairs at small cafe table were not put together correctly (felt like they would collapse when you sat in them) No comfortable place to sit We were there during the blackout - no flashlights anywhere and the only candles were tapers with no holders; the people downstairs in the shop gave me a tiny pin light and a disposable lighter. Capri, you need a better plan than that for emergencies. The window behind the bed was open when i got there and I couldn't ever get it to close all the way or lock. There was no spatula for cooking. The gas on the stove easily turns on on accident, if you're working near the knobs and lean on them - be careful. We had turned it on accidentally and didn't know it - came home to horrible smell of gas (almost like onions, not the rotten egg smell i'm used to). Pros: Check in/out process was SUPER easy and smooth. Any time you call for help, they come right away and are very nice. The location is PERFECT for every theater or activity in midtown, easy walking distance. Capri answers email questions very quickly. The apartment was clean when we arrived. Security is good, even in the blackout (there's a key operated door just inside the magnetic door. The magnetic door went out during the blackout). Overall, we had a great experience in the apartment. Just don't expect luxury. I would definitely stay there again - but I would bring my own pillow. :-)
