Stayed Sep 14, 2025This property is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. It felt like we were miles away, yet we were very close to town. I would give the property 5 stars, but there needs to be a little bit more attention to the cleaning details, and the Wi-Fi kept shutting down, unfortunately, during two very important meetings. All in all, we love it there and will definitely be back!

Stayed Jul 25, 2025Such a beautiful location! Like, absolutely gorgeous. Check-in was seamless and easy and we felt like we had everything we needed to have a great stay. The only thing I would say is that the water can be a little off tasting (old pipes will do that) so I would recommend buying some water for yourself beforehand if you’re a water snob like me. Otherwise perfect stay! Would definitely come here again. :)

Stayed May 23, 2025The apartment was lovely and host responsive. Our only issue was being secluded and away from town, but if you’re looking for a getaway, this is it.

Stayed Dec 30, 2024Beautiful property, but being out of season sauna and hot tub were not available. On site supervision of cleaning procedures was lacking.

Stayed Nov 28, 2024We enjoyed our stay. Our only complaints were that a hot tub was advertised and it was closed down for what loojed like the Winter? We were looking forward to a soak when we arrived on Thanksgiving. If it isn't available you shouldn't say that there is one. Otherwise the place was big, clean, and well equippied.

Stayed Sep 12, 2024We really loved our stay at Chateau Herbe. It was relaxing and fun to roam the 20+acre grounds. Although its just over a mile from Ashland city center, you feel far from both the town and highway. the suite itself is very spacious and we especially loved the high ceilings. The chateau library is also worth exploring. Such a unique property that is unlike any other VRBO property we've stayed at!

Stayed Jul 7, 2024The description is pretty spot on. Gated facility, mansion is divided into several apartments and the grounds are really nice. The balcony overlooks the grounds. I will try to stay there again next time I am in Ashland.

Stayed Jul 5, 2024Our family of seven stayed in two of the units of the gated castle which is a replica of a French Chateau situated on a large garden area. There are 7 vacation units and a common area with some snacks available. We used this to all get together do a large jigsaw puzzle. The area opened this spring and the kitchen is sparsely equipped. All the essential equipment is there: microwave, toaster, coffee maker and the onsite host was very willing to provide more plates, some kitchen knives and eggbeater, etc. We were there over the 4th of July weekend and the air conditioning did a great job dealing with the 109 degree weather.

Stayed Jun 21, 2024Immediately upon arrival, it was evident that much thought and planning had gone into the landscaping and exterior of this lovely chateau. The well tended grounds and trees surrounding the property invited us to get away from the chaos and busyness of business as usual and just relax. We climbed the stairs and found the castle apartment to be beautifully decorated as well and quite spacious. The chance to dine on the balcony with view of the grounds was real treat. We were thrilled to find that this secluded sanctuary was less than 2 miles from downtown Ashland and made our trips to see the play that night and enjoy our subsequent trips to Ashland effortless allowing us to thoroughly enjoy our time away. We look forward to future trips and have spread the words about this little gem to friends we know would enjoy just such a getaway.

Stayed Jun 8, 2024This was an amazing stay in a town full of wonderful offerings. And yes, it really does look like a chateau. The Oberon suite was spacious, extremely clean and well appointed. We had a fully stocked kitchen, large bedroom, an old world balcony and fabulous views of the mountains and gardens to go with our morning coffee. The property is near the interstate hwy but you wouldn’t know it from inside the apartment. Road noise was minimized outside due to the expert landscaping. It was quiet and the bed was so comfy that we woke well rested every day. Gorgeous trees block both the roads and the nearby town, making it easy to think you are in the French countryside. We have always liked being in downtown Ashland but this was a thousand times better while still being close to downtown. The property was secure and had ample parking space—a nice change. The host was always responsive and accommodating while affording us complete privacy. It was difficult to leave this peaceful place.

Stayed May 25, 2024When we arrived, there were lots of wows being said by the adults and kids (11 and 14). The property looks like the pictures, it's clean and spacious, and it's a short drive to the plaza in Ashland. Communication was great; I texted a question for the host and had an answer within a minute. Be sure to check out the downstairs shared space. We all agreed we would come back here in an instant.
