Berni's Castle is a big, beautiful historic landmark on the North Oregon Coast, and this Oceanside vacation rental is part of the sprawling castle. This private apartment used to be Berni's workshop. Here, you'll have ocean views from the full kitchen, living room, and out on the balcony for a memorable coast retreat.
You'll also have use of a common deck with a grill. If you're renting all of Berni's Castle or enjoy making a few new friends, the lower deck with grill will be a fun socializing spot.
This beautiful and unique vacation home boasts new paint, furniture, art, and amenities throughout. The living area is full of large, ocean view windows, comfortable furniture, and a TV for evenings spent inside watching cable or a DVD. There's also an iPod dock for music, WiFi, and plenty of board games to spread out on the coffee table, as well as a gas fireplace that provides warmth in ambiance only, as it is not reliably functional.
When it's time for meals, in addition to all of the major appliances, you'll also have panoramic ocean views from the bright and well-stocked kitchen. There are also a lot of bonus gadgets here like a coffee grinder, blender, and a mixer. You may want to whip up a batch of cookies for after dinner, or start the day with fruit smoothies before heading down to the sand.
In the morning, take your coffee out on the balcony to listen to the ocean and watch the waves roll in. If you feel like a fancy coffee drink, make the 5 minute walk to Brewin' in the Wind and bring a latte and pastry back to this Oregon Coast vacation rental.
Both bedrooms have queen size beds, one with a vaulted ceiling and a paddle ceiling fan. This Oceanside vacation rental will sleep four guests quite comfortably, with a maximum of five guests. And if you need to do any laundry while on vacation, there's a private washer and dryer for guest use. And, if you decide to bring your dog pals, there's an additional fee (two dogs maximum, please).
The sleepy beachside town of Oceanside is popular, yet not normally crowded, with a long stretch of sandy beach and gorgeous views of Three Arch Capes National Wildlife refuge just off the shore. Spend sunny afternoons walking in the sand, flying kites, or just hunting for shells. When you work up an appetite, you'll want to stop in at Roseanna's Cafe, a local favorite, for fresh seafood, hearty lunches, or a piece of homemade pie.
If you don't want to stay put, there are plenty of day trips you can plan in the area. Spend some time at Cape Meares National Wildlife Refuge, two and a half miles north in Cape Meares, where you can hike around and take photos of the historic lighthouse. And, just 11 miles east on Highway 101, you can stop by the famous Tillamook Cheese Factory for samples of Oregon-made cheddar and scoops of freshly-made ice cream.
Further north, there's the galleries of Cannon Beach and to the south, bustling Lincoln City with the Chinook Winds Casino, a large outlet mall, and many glass blowing studios. But really, your most favorite activity may be sitting out on the balcony back at your castle getaway, with a glass of wine or watching a winter storm from the warmth of the living room.

This home has a stunning view... Even better than advertised by the pictures. It is updated, but has a couple outdated things. But truly, it did not detract from our stay (dated bathroom and squeaky old beds). Kitchen is mostly updated. Furniture is very complimentary to ocean gazing. The deck with table and chairs would be perfect for meals (too cold when we went late October). We didn't have dogs with us this trip, but house was so clean you wouldn't know it is dog friendly. Sunsets are to die for, so don't miss it if you stay. Would like more comfy chairs at the peninsula since there is no table. Note that Internet is terrible here, but wifi was good. Be sure you get directions on your phone before checking out because wifi immediately disconnects and we had to scramble to find directions for our next location. Screenshot directions before you come. Web-based GPS does not work here. Highly recommend this rental!
Place needed better preparation. The bathroom lights over the sink didn't work; there were no coffee mugs or cups for hot drinks; the toilet tank ran every 20 min. or so. The person I dealt with about this was very polite, but nothing was done. Someone called back late on the day before we were checking out. All issues were preventable if care between visitors was better.
Lovely condo with beautiful view.
This was our first experience renting, and our first time to the Oregon coast. The rental was easy to find and access. When you first walk in your breath is taken away by the gorgeous view of the ocean, wave, beach, rocks etc. The tiny balcony was very wet and dirty, but there had been much rainy weather. The kitchen is perfect, loaded with everything you need to cook or bake. Spice rack too! It was very clean and tidy. The bathroom was clean as well, some of the bath linens were thinned and worn, but we found plenty more in the cabinets. Lots of storage for your essentials. Water pressure in the shower was perfect. The living room has an electric faux wood burning stove, which was cozy in the evenings. The floor had quite a bit of dust bunnies and hair, but we found brooms and a vacuum in the closet and cleaned it up. The leather, or maybe faux leather, sectional was very comfortable, but not until we scrubbed it clean. It had multiple areas of white stains that resembled baby spit up. I found a disinfectant cleaner under the kitchen sink and a scrubby sponge. I saturated the sectional and scrubbed those stains off. But the worst part of all was the beds. Both beds were dirty. Both beds from the duvet, to the top sheet, to the bottom sheet and pillow cases, were full of hair, both human and possible dog, food, drool stains, and either feces or chocolate. I immediately called in to communicate to Vacasa the sad state of affairs. We had been traveling that day since early morning and were exhausted and so disappointed as we just wanted to relax. Soon after I received a text from Vacasa wanting photos, I sent in photos of the bed linens, at this point I was not aware of the stains on the sectional. The person I was texting with gave us a colored to a lockbox to get the key to open the linen closet. There was only one set of sheets inside it. I had sent my husband out to get laundry detergent. As I was texting with Vacasa, the woman asked if I would just like some new linens brought over. Yes please!!! In the meanwhile, I removed the duvet covers to wash them. But was so disgusted when I found the brown mystery smears on the comforter. So I washed those too. The washer is a front loader and of course there was a thick orange tinged slime ball inside the rubber seal that smelled awful. I cleaned that out as well. Shortly after a kind Vacasa staff member delivered two sets of fresh sheets and took the dirty laundry away. Fast recovery!
Perfect for 2 people, 2 dogs. Unit was very clean on check-in, and we stayed 4 nights. Great view, beds were extremely comfortable. Fully stocked kitchen with a nice little spice rack as an extra touch. Washer/dryer in unit that we used. 2 portable fans in the closet if needed for warmer weather was nice, as was the ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms. A few minor Cons - Parking spots off Sunset avenue not suitalbe for larger vehicles. I used 2 spots for my truck, as there were no other renters in the house. - Deck has not been cleaned in a while, lots of blown vegetation accumulated. Windows could use a regular cleaning as well. The view is the main thing. - Couldn't find a dish rack to dry dishes, and only one towel to dry them with. (possible that we just weren't looking in the right cupboards...) - Wifi spotty, which didn't affect us, but if you plan to do some computer work while there it may be inconvenient. We just played Battleship, one of the board games there. I have stayed in several rentals in the area, and this is the one I will try to use on my next visits.
