Clean and comfortable. In a great location. Enjoyed hearing the waves of the ocean, walking on the beach and eating at the cafes along the promenade. Very close to the Douro river where the port houses are and boat trips.
We had a lovely stay here. A well maintained property, quiet with the ocean waves in the background. Marcos was very attentive and gracious.
From the check-in to check-out, our host made everything go smoothly.. The apartment was clean, nicely furnished, well-situated in front of the ocean, and had everything we needed for a month’s stay. We appreciated having the boardwalk and walking path along the ocean practically out the door. Cafes were nicely spaced along the path and we enjoyed our daily coffees there. This place takes some time to get into Porto during peak hours and needs GPS to negotiate the roundabouts and twists and turns down to the apartment from the main road. Other than that, it was a total delight.
Easy booking, great communication with Marcos. The apartment has everything for a great family holiday, location is superb.
We were met by Marcos, who was very friendly and showed us around the apartment, He brought us beach towels as we had forgotten ours and he gave some great advice about the area. Marcos was very easy to reach to ask questions during our stay. The apartment was very clean and we had everything we needed. The apartment is well situated for a holiday to combine time on the lovely beach with visiting Porto or going further afield. It is an easy cycle ride from the apartment to Porto where you can lock your bikes up and tour the city. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Lovely flat on beachside location
This apartment is very well-equipped, spacious, clean and warm, with the ocean just across the road. Everything was as described on the website. We were most comfortable there. Marcos very helpfully sent us route maps by e-mail before our arrival, and always answered any queries we had concerning the apartment prior to arrival. We were met and shown around by a colleague of his, Rui, who was most attentive and accommodating. The apartment is very well placed to explore the ocean promenade. There are extensive walks (or runs!) along this. There are sandy beaches very close by, and the Reserva Natural Local do Estuário do Douro is within easy walking distance. The main port wine lodges are a short drive away. We found visiting Porto itself more difficult. If you are totally unfamiliar with a city, then driving through it and parking up to see the sights will always be a challenge. Be aware that the streets through the historic centre are narrow and often one-way, and the traffic very slow; we encountered several grid-locked areas. An alternative is to use public transport. The nearest metro station is some way from the apartment, and the single Porto (STCP) bus which terminates just up the road (route 902) does not go to the old city centre area. A change of buses is required. None of this took away from what was an extremely relaxing and pleasant stay; a break from all the driving both before and afterwards. You have to search for high quality accommodation, and this was of the highest quality. We recommend it strongly to future renters.
