Stayed Nov 25, 2025This was my first booking with VRBO, and it was an absolute nightmare!Evidently, this host was not expecting me. I paid for the spot but when I arrived, it was clear someone had been staying there. The bed, slept in. When I pulled back the sheets, the mattress cover was stained with a brown substance. Customer service tried to convince me to allow a maid to come in an clean the next morning, but where would I sleep that night? After seeing the filthy mattress cover how would I know that the maid actually cleaned if they could not be bothered to wash a clearly stained mattress cover? This is why I pulled the sheets off-- to ensure every item would be cleaned-- only to find filthy linen living on the bed, but in hiding.Someone had been eating in the kitchen as there was food stains and crumbs throughout the kitchen and fridge. In the bathroom, A used wash cloth on the counter met me, with no clean ones avail except three large bath towels stuck in a makeshift crevice shelf. No extra towels or sheets. I had to find another place to sleep at 11p that night after lugging my luggage up a long flight of stairs, so needless to say, this was not a great experience.VRBO could not reach the owner after multiple attempts. While Ieft the key on the kitchen counter in clear sight, the owner claimed they did not have it so VRBO messed around with my funds doing partial refunds claiming a missing key. Took over two weeks for them to figure it out.
