Boerne, Texas
Featured in April 2013 Fine Homebuilding Magazine ('Stress Free in South Texas'), this home won the magazine's national award for Best Retirement Home. You can see pictures of the apartment in the magazine article. It is a sustainable, energy-efficient home designed by the owner-architect, but its cozy apartment has all the comforts of home and a vintage feel!
Charming, 2nd floor apartment in the heart of Boerne on Frederick Creek. Own kitchen and bath (dishes and linens provided), dining nook, washer-dryer, full-sized refrigerator and stove, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, 32-inch flat screen tv on swivel wall mount, internet access. The bed is a double (not queen) with new mattress and box spring. The living area has a new (queen-sized) sofa bed and upholstered reading chair and rocker. Some of the other furnishings are from the 1930s, and the bed has a wooden headboard and footboard, and as of June 4, 2015, has a newly built frame that eliminates all creakiness of the former antique frame. The tub has a shower. The sofa has comfortable pillows. We provide all dishes, cooking utensils, pots and pans, and coffee maker. The balcony has a small table and two chairs for morning coffee.
10 minute walk to Main Street filled with antique shops and restaurants. 40 minute drive from San Antonio airport. Private entrance, parking. Picnic on the shady creek!
Come for these special events in Boerne:
Every month, Second Saturday and Sunday, crafts, art and wine: crafts market with food and music, just a 5-minute walk from here, and art galleries host wine tour on Saturday night. Shops on Main St. are open till 8pm on Saturday night.
Every Saturday (March-December): Farmer's Market at the Cibolo Nature Center Farm.
Every month, second Tuesday -- Live at the Library. Beautiful music at Boerne's fabulous new library.
We are a quick walk from the Kendall Inn and Peggy's on the Green restaurant, which serves as the trailhead for the Heart of Boerne Trail. The trail connects to the Hill Country Mile, a landscaped walkway connecting downtown along the Cibolo Creek. Walk among trees and native plants from the North end of Main Street with its shops and restaurants to River Road and more of the same. Then you can continue down River Road to other hike and bike paths and follow the Old Number Nine train route through town or to the Cibolo Nature Center and Farm.
Nancy kept in close contact, check in was a breeze. The exterior courtyard, is packed with very nice wildflowers & the likes. The upstairs interior is much nicer than the online pictures can describe. I was solo, out on a work deployment, & it was absolutely perfect for me. Couldn’t say enough about it. Don’t hesitate, scoop it up & enjoy your stay. Because I know you will !!
We like to bike and this place is a perfect middle of the way location to the multitude of trails in San Antonio and the hill country trails. Even a couple shorter trails right in Boerne. The apartment is perfect size and has everything you need for a short or longer stay!
Can't imagine a better location or more comfortable place to stay in Boerne. The apartment is cozy and well-appointed with quality cookware and bedding. It has everything a person might need, including optional visits from the hosts' dog. The hosts are responsive right away for questions, and even offered to get a Roku so we could use our Netflix account. We would certainly stay here again.
A little mix up with check out date but turn out OK. Am already booked to return next year!
A sweet bubbling fountain greets visitors in the lovely courtyard of this Boerne Texas gem. The studio apartment had everything I needed - towels, paper goods, kitchen items, washer and dryer. The location was perfect - close to everything one would want - groceries, restaurants, gas, Main street stores and boutiques. Yet I still felt I was getting away from it all at this location that abuts green space. Please note that the VRBO apartment is accessed by stairs so one will need to carry their luggage and groceries up stairs. This was no bother for me and a welcome chance to exercise and work my muscles. I would definitely return to this unique unit lovingly designed by the architect owner. I had a great stay. Everything was perfect.
It was the perfect location and facility for me. For a couple, it would be perfect. The apartment is clean as a whistle, amazingly compact, but with all the facilities and amenities one would want. Nancy and Jon are wonderfully friendly and helpful, and all the delights of the town and adjacent Hill Country are easily accessible. ??
This is a lovely place with all the comforts of home. The property is beautiful and the homeowners are warm and hospitable. The location is perfect for daily walks along the creek or to Main Street. There are so many great choices for things to do and places to dine, it's a challenge to fit them all in during the stay. EE - Exceeds Expectations!
While house hunting in the Hill Country recently I was lucky enough to find this lovely little apartment to serve as my home base for a month. It was so nice to come back to a nice, cool place & relax after a full day on the road. On other days I was able to get out & explore the town of Boerne since everything is so close. The owners couldn't have been nicer & even offered up the little creek at the bottom of the property to use as a bit of a sanctuary. Being hotter than I am used to I only ventured down there one time, but I could see where it would be lovely on a cool evening. I would definitely recommend this lovely place for a single person or couple who appreciates comfort & architectural design.
Provided everything we needed - nice clean room, full kitchen, internet, washer & dryer. Highly recommend the facility.
Visiting family so this was a home away from their home. Quiet, relaxing, friendly atmosphere, clean. All the comforts I needed when I needed me time from their hectic schedule. Centrally located so I was able to attend all my four grandsons sporting and school events of which there were many. Would definitely return and stay again when I am in Boerne escaping the NY winter
