Stayed May 15, 2023So many times, one is disappointed by the reality of a booking, but Arco al Poggio exceeded our expectations, and then some! From the moment we pulled up to the apartment we knew we had arrived at someplace special. Gaia made us feel right at home and I must say that the welcome basket and fridge full of food was a blessing after traveling for 20+ hours. Our family stay was for a week, and during that time we only had only two days of nice weather, but the woodstove in the apartment kept us cozy. The kitchen was amazing, with top of the line pots and pans, which allowed me to try home cooked regional recipes. The property is just a stone's throw from the charming village of San Gusme', which serenaded us with its church bell daily. Be sure to have dinner at nearby Osteria alla Villa... let them know your staying at Arceno Rentals when you make your reservation for a great table, great food and wonderful service. Gaia was very responsive to our questions, and provided a wireless hotspot when storms knocked out local service. The apartment was well-appointed with games and movies, which helped during the bad weather. A grocery store is located minutes away in Castelnuovo Berardenga, along with a self-serve gas station. Can't overstate how much we enjoyed our stay... frankly, if the apartment wasn't already booked, we would have stayed another week and skipped Rome. Thanks, Arceno Rentals.. we hope to be back someday!

Stayed Jul 25, 2019Positives Good setting Nice swimming pool Great views Well equipped with wine & food on arrival Negatives No air conditioning - which was needed during our stay (but to be fair was not listed in amenities beforehand) Cleanliness not to a standard expected in general (sofa in particular) Overnight bug bites leading to infection ruined the experience

Stayed May 11, 2019Our group of two couples looking for a true Tuscan experience of a lifetime found “il pogglio” an amazing home away from home. Its farmhouse charm is intoxicating - from the inside layout, to the veranda, the outside amenities (pool, gardens, vineyards), and most especially the views to the hills and distant mountain peaks. We spent 8 days exploring the area from Siena to Montepulciano and everything in between. We highly recommend Cresti’s just a few miles southwest for an awesome Chianti wine tasting treat. Then walk to the tree-studded hilltop that is their label/logo and discover the ancient pyramid - not in any of our guidebooks. Anna & Gaia (our concierge) were a joy to work with. The villa was sparkling clean and well provisioned throughout our stay. We would rate the accommodations and management team a 10 out of 10 and eagerly await our return. Ciao!!!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Il Poggio. The email communication and arrival information were clear and easy. We were met by Gaia upon our arrival. What a gem! Even though we had visited the area previously and know many of the inns and outs, she was a wealth of information, giving restaurant suggestions and day trip ideas. The house itself was wonderful. We were four people (my husband and 2 boys~ ages 8 and 11) and we had everything we needed. After a long journey, the welcome basket was a fabulous treat. The house itself was tasteful, and we felt as though we had really come home. The book collection, music selection, sat tv etc. made for an easy transition for all. The bathrooms were modern and the kitchen use was a wonderful bonus. We had an excellent week and enjoyed coming home at the end of each day. The Arceno property is stunning at any time of year and is always fun to explore. I'd give more stars if I could. We will be back for sure. Grazie Anna and Gaia!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The biggest attraction for me is the unusual spacious loggia with a wonderful view, great for breakfast, lunch and dinner or just lounging, no matter what kind of weather. The house itself is very welcoming: it is clean, kept up well, with tasteful interior, well equipped kitchen and good mattresses. The house, garden and pool are beautiful situated in the quiet Tuscan landscape. It feels secluded, but in the near neighborhood are some lovely villages to go to the market or just to have coffee or for great Tuscan food (Castelnuovo Berardenga, San Gusme and Ambra (leather factory). And Siena is also not very far.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Great stay. The apartment is lovely and peaceful. The owners are very generous with a great welcome package and unlimited wine and olive oil. Highlight was to be invited to enjoy the wonderful celebration dinner in the local town square.

Stayed Oct 22, 2018Arco il Poggio was the perfect property for our family of four (two adults, two young men in their twenties). Comfortable, clean, quiet, and homey. The setting among vineyards and olive trees looks like a postcard of Tuscany. Gaia, the concierge, was very helpful and met us on arrival. The welcome basket included enough food for dinner that evening and breakfast the next morning; we really appreciated not having to go to the grocery store right away. Kitchen is stocked with all the pots, pans, utensils, etc. any cook could need. The mid-week cleaning and linen change was a nice way to refresh things. Bathrooms are clean and modern. Master bedroom very spacious with a huge wardrobe for clothing. Cozy bathrobes were a welcome touch. We used Arceno as our base for excursions to Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, Montepulciano, Gaiole in Chianti (highly recommend Tuscany Bicycle there), and Lago Tresimano, as well as nearby Castelnuovo Berardenga. (Fabulous meal at AnonimaX in CB: the pecorino cheese souffle with fresh shaved white truffles was a standout.) In the evening we spotted deer and a wild boar but none of the local porcupines. If you are looking for a scenic, quiet Tuscan location, thoughtfully restored and beautifully maintained, this is the place for you. We hope to return in the summer when we can use the pool!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Perfect location 12 miles outside of Siena. Countryside around Villa was spectacular with each local village charming, and challenging each other with five star restaurants. We enjoyed evenings especially as the sun went down we break out the wine and cheese. Everything was updated and supplied. Great for two couples. Everything exceed expectations.
