EXTRA CLEANING PROTOCOLS
Since the COVID 19 outbreak, we are taking extra precautions to keep our guests safe and making every effort to ensure a worry-free stay. We offer self check in, and have instituted extra cleaning protocols with extra cleaning and disinfecting on high-touch surfaces.

This cozy second floor apartment is next to Taughannock Falls State Park, which is home to one of the outstanding attractions of the northeast - 215' Taughannock Falls, which plunges past rockycliffs that tower nearly 400' above the gorge. This is the tallest free-falling waterfall east of the Mississippi (33 feet higher than Niagara Falls). The location is perfect for outdoor activities and adventures including hiking the gorge trails and the Black Diamond Trail (which runs from Trumansburg to Ithaca along a former train route), biking, birding (we are located in the Cayuga Lake Basin), wine tasting, swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, boating, and fishing. Hiking the park's rim trails provides dramatic views of the gorges formed by the ice age. Minutes from the Cayuga Wine Trail and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, which includes scenic wineries, distilleries, cideries and breweries. There are great restaurants nearby, many featuring free live music. Only ten miles to Ithaca and to Watkins Glen, and directly across the road from beautiful Taughannock Stream that flows into the waterfall. Wake up to the cheerful sound of songbirds and fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the stream across the road. Peaceful surroundings and beautiful gardens. And the night sky is perfect for stargazing!

Newly renovated smaller second floor apartment in owner's country home. Clean, cozy and comfortable, perfect for 1-2 people. The bedroom has a new queen size mattress, solid Amish-made oak dresser plus air conditioner. The cheerful sunroom/dining room has a cypress wood table and chairs (handmade by local Amish craftsmen) and looks out over the trees and expansive grounds and gardens. We call the apartment the Eagles Nest, since it sits above the magnolia trees and overlooks large silver maple and black walnut trees and several flower gardens. Our yard is 100% organic- no pesticides or herbicides. We have native plantings to attract the birds and the bees and butterflies. Several songbird and hummingbird feeders are always in use.

Inside there's a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, oven and range, coffee maker, toaster and microwave. In addition there's a newly tiled bathroom, a den with a loveseat and chair and 36 flat screen DirecTV with 150+ channels and second air conditioner, a walk-in closet, and high speed wireless internet connection. Linens, towels and soft cotton bedding and blankets are supplied, and several Metropolitan Museum of Art reproductions hang on the walls. Close to the quaint village of Trumansburg which offers boutique and art gallery shops, excellent restaurants, a large grocery store and liquor store, pharmacy, natural foods store and deli, pizzeria, bank, beautiful public library, used book store, vintage bowling alley/restaurant and laundromat.

There is also a new outdoor seating area with two chairs for our guests to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon aperitif.

We provide a Welcome Book for guests which highlights recommendations for locally owned businesses and restaurants. Sustainability related amenities include solar panel energy, recycling, and eco-friendly LED lighting. The historic house was built in 1850 and formerly owned by Robert Moog, who invented the synthesizer, and who invited many famous musicians to the home, i.e. the Beatles and Emerson, Lake and Palmer. The house is included in a documentary about the life of Bob Moog, called Electronic Voyager.

Regretfully, we are not handicapped accessible. Please note that for those with physical limitations, there are stairs leading up to this second floor apartment as shown in the photos. They are lit up with multiple solar lights to increase safety at night.

Loretta and Steve have a fantastic place to stay. I hope to return to stay at the Eagles Nest. They were very friendly and the information in their guide in the apartment had lots of restaurants as well as information on Robert Moog, the former owner and synthesizer pioneer! I was sold as soon as I saw the Falls(truly breathtaking and awe inspiring go check it out!) the information about Robert Moog, and the 45min to 3hr drive from all the places I wanted to visit. I got to see Niagara Falls on the Canadian side!I learned how to make cases for wetplate pictures in Dundee at Camp Tintype with John Coffer. If you want to learn how to make tintypes or ambrotypes, he's a modern pioneer and has taught many people, check him out!

The property was conveniently located next to a handful of parks, hiking trails, wineries, etc. which made it easy to get around. The upstairs unit was private and had all the amenities needed to make for a cozy stay. We do wish the living room had a larger/more comfortable couch to enjoy after a long day of hiking, but wasn’t a big deal. Loretta and Steve were very accommodating and took great care of the property. We would love to come back the next time we visit.

We were so grateful for this apartment when our camping plans had to change last minute due to the heat. The apartment was cute and the perfect size for the two of us. Air conditioning worked great and was much needed while we were there. Apartment was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. My only small complaint was the size of the living room furniture. It made it a bit uncomfortable to hang out. But we were so busy exploring the area that it wasn't too big of a deal. So many things to see and do in the Finger Lakes and this property made a great home base.

This location was perfect for day trips around the area! We filled five days with activities around Watkins Glen, Seneca Falls, Taughannock and Trumansburg, and Ithaca. The waterfalls were fantastic! Check out the state parks! The Eagles' Nest apartment was perfect for us to have a peaceful environment to come home to. We had everything we needed. We saw birds, a deer, a groundhog, and chipmunks enjoying the gardens outside the den window. Loretta and Steve were gracious hosts who communicated very well. We highly recommend staying here.

The property was perfect for our needs. It was well maintained and very clean. We had a car trailer that needed a large driveway to pull in with ease. My husband also felt very secure that his car and trailer were safe on the property. We were able to tour the various waterfalls and parks in the area. It was very relacing.
