Lisboa, Lisboa
"Steeps streets where trams trundle along..a southern city, a city at once scorched and fresh with the promise of the sea on the horizon." (Simone de Beauvoir).
This charming apartment renovated in 2011 is on the ground floor of the most picturesque quarter of Lisbon – Alfama. It has plenty of sunlight and offers spectacular views over the Tejo river and city monuments.
Perfectly located between the most popular viewpoints Miradouro de Santa Luzia and Miradouro das Portas do Sol where you can enjoy a coffee on the esplanade, contemplate the beauty of the city and visit the Museum of Decorative Art. It is just a few steps away from Lisbon's cathedral, the Sé, São Jorge Castle, Santo António church (Lisbon’s popular saint) as well as the famous flea market Feira da Ladra. From this apartment you can explore the rest of the city walking to Baixa, Bairro Alto or Chiado.
The apartment is totally equipped and well served by public transports like the old fashioned n.º 28 tram, tram n.º 12, the mini-bus 37 (their stop are 3 minutes walking distance from the apartment) and it is also at a walking distance to the train station and subway Santa Apolónia. Nearby you have all kinds of traditional commerce, bars, restaurants and the traditional Fado houses.
Check-in: 14:00 – 21:00.
Check-out – 11.00 a.m.
For arrivals later than 21:00 pm there is an extra-charge of 30€ and the latest check-in time is 02:00 a.m.
Beautiful view of the rooftops of Alfama with the river's estuary in the distance, the colors of which change during the day. Comfortable bed, reliable Wifi, and excellent neighborhood with meandering paths that take you back in time. Mini-mercados and restaurants/bars that serve as live music venues featuring Fado abound.
This apartment has wonderful views and is very quaint. Near a small food market, restaurants, and the metro. The landlady was very kind. Beware however, that Alfama is a pedestrian only area. Walking is the only way around, which I enjoyed, but with a suitcase is was a challenge. It was worth all those stairs. Kindly, Christine
Good location but noisy until 2 to 4 a.m. also mold in bathroom entranceway and bedroom.
Everything was great and we loved being in Alfama district. It was a bit noisy but didn't detract from our stay. The owner provided very clear directions to find her place and was very pleasant when we met her at the outset of our stay.
I absolutely loved this apartment. The location was perfect, the view was beautiful, and even though I had a little bit of trouble finding it and getting into it- once you figure it out it’s easy! I highly recommend staying at Monica’s apartment, It’s very clean and organized, and as mentioned the location is one of the best parts! If I come back to Alfama I would definitely book this place again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We enjoyed our time in the heart of alfama. This place is not for the faint of heart as there are lots of stairs regardless of the direction you come from (up or down). The elevator suggested to get there is out of order (july w2023) and, according to a local, has been for over a month. Luckily we travel lightly. We liked the narrow alleys and fado restaurants nearby. The place is old but what else could it be in that location? Great views.
Our stay in Lisbon was one we'll never forget! What an amazing city! And staying in the Alfama neighborhood was the cherry on top. Such lovely homes, buildings, and restaurants all around. The apartment was lovely and spacious! Nice bathroom, nice kitchen, lovely large living space, good bedroom. The view of the water and neighborhood below? Unbelievable! Just be ready for a workout because Alfama is a hilly part of town. My friend and I thankfully only had backpacks for this portion of our Europe travels. If you have luggage, make sure to take a taxi and use the lift so you only have to carry it half a flight of stairs. Monica was an excellent host and very responsive to our queries. Highly recommend her place and would definitely stay again!
The property is very well kept and has everything you would need for a short term stay. The location is really in the heart of Alfama and in such a cool location. You cannot access the property directly by car so that can create a bit of a challenge if you are travelling with heavy luggage, but we were travelling with carry on bags so it was not a problem for us. You want to be fit to get up and down the stairs, but it's definitely worth it.
Be ready to climb about 300 steps to get to the apartment! Nice landing outside with bench for people-watching. Clean apartment with basic amenities (no paper towels or napkins). Nice host who met us at the bottom of the steps to bring us up to the apartment. Noisy municipal workers and construction workers with gas-powered tools 9 am - 6 pm.
Many stairs to climb but worth it. Great location.
It was nice to be in the middle this neighborhood….wonderful to explore and find surprises around corners. Pretty view from window!
Thank you Monika, we LOVED our stay at your charming home in the heart of Alfama. The location was perfect and the riverviews were beautiful. We also slept very well on your comfortable beds. We hope to return. Obrigada!
This apartment was perfect, everything you need, nothing you don't. Great view and locations was perfect for easy walk to water front and downtown. Of course easy walk if you like hills and steps. This old neighborhood is up and down, up and down. Lot's good restaurants and a lively atmosphere. We’re going back again!
The house was perfect for our short stay in Lisbon! Really wonderful location & very comfortable ~
I traveled with my 12 year old son to Lisbon for a short, 3 night stay on our return from Africa to the U.S. I feel like we hit the jackpot on location. Aflama is the place to be. You are literally RIGHT where most of the pictures are taken in Lisbon, within walking distance of literally everything. (Google maps can tell you which trains to board, etc.). Short walk from the water where the most incredible restaurants are. We stayed in July and they're having a heat wave. My only drawback was there is no a/c and it was HOT and stuffy during the day. There's a really great little restaurant right above the place. I highly recommend getting their coffee and pastel thingy that's famous in Portugal first thing in the morning. It'll still be hot and toasted like a marshmallow on top. I've traveled the world and Lisbon, Portugal is at the tippy top of my list. It is just so pretty. Every building is old and intricately painted with these custom tiles. I was in awe the entire time. I would go back again in a heartbeat and stay right here. Thank you so much Monica for your hospitality. Lisbon was worth the wait!
