ALEX HOUSE - Superb apartment with swimming pool

Overall a very easy and enjoyable stay

Before we left the UK we had very little communication although we were told we would receive everything 3 days before. I asked repeatedly before leaving the UK but received nothing. Upon arrival at the apartments we were informed that the apartment had a broken sofa bed and the only option was to have a different apartment which was owned by the same owner and was on the bottom floor above the children's play area on the opposite side of the complex. So, rather than have nowhere to stay, we accepted. We then noticed there were 5 ladies already staying in the original apartment booked. They said they had booked through AirB&B and they arrived the 2 days before us for 1 week. The ladies told me that they also had poor communication and they were using the sofa bed? The day the ladies left the apartment another group of 6 moved in. We had 3 sleepless nights with the occupants of the room above us playing loud music until 4am . I reported this to the owner of our apartment. The sunbeds for the pool were owned by each apartment and under lock and key. The sunbeds for our apartment were all broken, I also reported this to the owner of the apartment. I suspect that the apartment had been double booked all along and the apartment you see on the web site may not be the one that you may get. We booked the original apartment because it was on the top floor with know one above us and it was well away from the children's play area. On a positive note the alternative apartment was clean.

Overall the apartment was great. Clean, modern and as described. The location is quiet and away from the busy area. It's a 7 minute walk downhill to access shops and restaurants. Albufeira is very hilly so the hire car we had was very useful. The shared facilities were good although the pool table cues were broken so this wasn't useable. A welcome pack giving basic info would've been helpful detailing nearby supermarkets, transport, restaurants and shared facility info e.g. how to access the apartment's sunloungers at the pool and the BBQ on the roof. The only problem we had was with communication through Vrbo to the owner. We didn't get timely responses to our queries or check in info until we chased it. We were concerned about the apartment being fake but it definitely exists and is as good as advertised.
