The pictures on the listing are authentic, of a spacious loft apartment just around the corner from the Apollo Temple. The apartment will easily accommodate 2-4 adults, with one shared bathroom, kitchen and patio. Our hostess Irina responded to all our communication in a timely manner and was flexible for our arrival time. She helped us locate “free parking” (1 euro to the local at the parcheggio who will find you a spot), which was very close and made it easy to transport our luggage to the apartment. Ortigia is so compact, we would often be out on the island and could return to the apartment quickly to grab a coat if needed. Everything in Siracusa, the archeological park with largest Greek theater and museum (most complete collection of early paleo to pre-Christian artifacts), are within walking distance or bus (no difference in time). I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else better that could offer a total immersion experience. Ortigia is fascinatingly classic with very narrow streets, as it was designed for foot or cart traffic. As you are very close to your neighbors. I recommend ear plugs for sleeping before midnight. Don’t expect the internet to always be dependable (it works intermittently), but instead enjoy the magic of Ortigia, the friendly locals, the puppet theater (must see!), the culture, street food, the classic Greek sites, the Duomo and the late afternoon “appertivo” watching the sunset over the ocean. If you dream of walking through history, and want to experience the beauty and culture of ancient Sicilia, I recommend booking this!
