We stayed for three nights. It was a much more cost effective way visit our nation's capital than a hotel room. The apartment was clean and comfortable with necessary amenities. We would recommend and we would stay again.
With booking this reservation, which included damage insurance. A few days before the trip, we got an email/text mgs asking for an additional cleaning deposit, (in addition to what we already paid. When I questioned this, the Host stated if I did not pay an additional deposit)., He would cancel our reservation (LESS than a week before we travel), and I making me ineligible for a refund (due to refund policy deadlines). We paid for it, as we could not find a hotel that was reasonable at short notice.(and we would lose our initial payment). This additional fee was NOT advised in the initial booking requirements. We arrive in Washington, DC. When we arrived, the electronic lock did not work. We advised this to the host, he did advise he would get someone out the next day to look at the lock. This inconvenience did not allow for us to leave the unit the first night, (because we could not lock the door to leave). The apartment was not clean, my family was bitten by something, and the bathroom window was not covered. Couch soiled, bathroom windows uncovered, (neighbors can see you bathing). Dead roaches were in the silverware drawer, bathroom dirty/Rug soiled. WE HAVE PICTURES of the unsanitary property. Many other issues existed. We checked out after one night! Still awaiting some concession from the Host. No response as of yet. We ended up checking into a Hotel to complete our trip. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
This is a terrific place to stay! Nice basement 2 bedroom apartment. Kept immaculately clean. Even at 6'2 it felt great and the bedrooms are wonderful with great space, comfortable beds and fluffy pillows. My family of four loved the ability to eat a home cooked meal while staying out of town. It is just a short Lyft or Uber to all of the great attractions DC has to offer and really let us get good rest and reload for the next day. Can't say enough about the amazing hosts and their friendly responsiveness. Terrific family vacation achieved!
There's a third party called Great Dwellings that runs this property. Through Great Dwellings, you'll be automatically — without your explicit consent — CHARGED a large deposit ahead of your stay. Leaving the space clean, they did refund the deposit. However, I'm currently trying to get Great Dwellings to revoke an accidental ADDITIONAL large security deposit charge that they added and then partially refunded FOLLOWING my stay. It's an additional charge on my credit card, again without permission, and not even fully refunded ... which would take ~10 days anyway, according to the email. The stay itself was nice. If you're looking for a quiet neighborhood away from metro stops, it's lovely. The nearby park was great for the kiddo. I don't recommend any more than 4 adults stay here unless you know you'll never use the kitchen or need to spend time together in the living room. The bedrooms are big, but the living space is tiny. If you've got kids or toddlers, the glass table is a definite watch-out. There was a pack'n'play in the closet, which was great for our toddler.
