From the 3-4 photos shown on the initial VRBO listing, I was expecting a quaint, well-appointed bright and cheerful experience. Instead, all I could immediately think of when I walked into this dark, tiny place was a worn-out college fraternity annex. While tidy, everything about it - from the military-style (‘unappealing’) twin beds, to the tiny 1940’s-vintage stove/oven, to the tired, thin ‘futon’, to the small, inoperable (at the time) television to the tiny dated bathroom, to the sometimes sloppily-painted walls — was as a pretty depressing 1st-apartment-out-of-college place. The owner was accessible and tried her best to help. I couldn’t get into to the unit (keys left for me did not work in the front door), so she immediately (virtually) guided me to alternate keys and the back door to try. The television did not work, so she was graciously comp’ed one of my two nights.
