Watkins Glen, New York
A cozy antique filled 1 bedroom getaway with private entrance, private bathroom, sitting area, kitchenette, multi outdoor shared porch space & located on the side hill overlooking Watkins Glen and Seneca Lake plus 2 blocks to famous Watkins Glen State Park. This historic home was built as a retirement home by Fox Holden, a financier of a Water Sanitarium in Elmira NY and most notable by being the financier of the Spiritual Movement in New York State.
The room was clean enough. The sheet was too small for two adults and didn’t fit the bed. No extra linens provided. Only 2 towels and 2 washcloth’s for two of us for 3 nights stay. Chairs in the room were well warn. It provided a basic place for us to enjoy the area but could be a little better.
Quiet neighborhood, first floor room.
Close enough to town but quite and quaint.
It’s just a short walk to town (albeit down a steep hill). The room and bathroom was nice and we didn’t hear a lot of noise while we were there. The only thing that prevented us from giving it a five star rating is that the refrigerator in the room shut off, made loud popping noises what as it expanded and contracted, which was disruptive to sleep. Now that someone has mentioned it I’m confident the owner will take care of that and the next person will have a five star stay :-)
