It was a nice, quiet residential area. I preferred to stay there than in a resort area where you are only among other tourists. Julie and Darryl welcomed me and showed me the suite and how to use the BBQ. The suite was nicely decorated and even had tourist pamphlets and travel books. I had no issue with Darryl starting up the truck in the mornings. I could hear it (b/c I'm a light sleeper) but I would continue dozing. The place was clean and comfortable and incl beach towels, chairs, umbrella, & cooler. When I stayed there in December, Kauai was chilly at night (compared to Maui) but after asking for another blanket from Julie, I was able to sleep. The only caveats I have are: 1. you're better off eating out or using the microwave, unless you have experience cooking decent meals on the BBQ at home, even when it might be raining or windy outside. 2. the location is convenient if you plan to spend lots of time in the south (e.g. beach at Poipu) or in the west (e.g. to Port Allen for a sail to the Napali Coast or to Waimea Canyon). However, it's a long drive around the coast of the island to activities on the north and east. You can't drive directly from south to north. Some roads in the north are one lane, and if there's road construction, expect delays. P.S. - if you're bringing carryon luggage only, use up the nice jam that the hosts give you. I forgot that it was too big for the carryon, and the TSA staff confiscated it at security.
Julie and Darryl were awesome hosts. Their place is equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. The little extras they include are very thoughtful. I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a comfortable neighborhood stay.
The apartment was very nice and our hosts were very friendly. I was surprised when one of our hosts said he would be leaving in diesel truck parked just outside our window at 6 am each morning. Fortunately we were able to get back to sleep each time.
Simply perfect hosts and a very lovingly furnished apartment. The cleanliness is absolutely top notch. As Swiss we are actually very spoiled when it comes to cleanliness, but we Swiss could also learn something from Julie and Darryl.?
From the hosts, to the courtyard, to the room itself everything was wonderful! We felt so lucky to have found this place. If you’re looking for a cozy little home away from home this is it!
Simply; This location beyond what you see; you certainly will be happy everything.! The host their Aloha spirit to greet you all the amenities in their Studio and yard that you have access to.
I loved staying in Julie and Darryls home. From the moment I arrived they greeted me with open arms and made my experience one to remember. With little treats that they gave to the recommendations that they had already written down; everything was a blast. Thank you Julie and Darryl for allowing me to feel at home!
We had a wonderful time staying with Julie. She was incredibly welcoming and gave us some great recommendations. Beach towels, umbrella, and beach chairs were all provided and the walk-in shower is beautiful. The place is in a great location, near the botanical gardens and poipu beach and although the roosters were a bit loud in the morning, we didn't mind it and actually looked forward to hearing them. We would've stayed longer if we could!
Beautiful location. Very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed entire stay and hope to return someday!
We had a wonderful stay! The place was very cozy, clean, and had everything we needed. Julie was very responsive and helpful before and once we got there. We were welcomed with many treats typical from Kauai, that was such a nice touch and much appreciated after such a long flight. The beach gear provided was also a big plus ! Highly recommend ! Mahalo again, Sandrine and Hugues
This was the perfect place to stay during our busy getaway in Kauai! My fiancé and I did a ton of exploring, and needed a comfortable place to come home to. It was cozy, clean and in a great, central location. We appreciated the beach gear too! Darry and Julie were great hosts and we would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Kauai!
Situated in a quiet neighborhood just outside of Koloa, Poipu and a short drive to the airport. Great jumping off point to Waimea Canyon. The place was super clean and the owners very friendly. The bed was comfortable and the sleeps quiet, other then the momentary vehicle start in the morning (6am and disclosed by the owner). There is no sink in the bathroom (just outside of it) which might bother some people. Beautiful outside private siting area.Overall a super comfortable stay and would gladly return.
This property is very private surrounded by a gorgeous garden. Everything was super clean and there were amazing little touches. A welcome basket of local goodies was fantastic! And we were close to restaurants, beaches and the family we were here to visit. Would highly recommend!!
The hosts were very kind and the cottage was clean and quaint. Very quiet neighborhood. The grill has a side burner so you can do some cooking outside. It’s a small studio with a nice size private patio and backyard. The host does need to start his truck early (around 6am) but only a few days per week. However, he drives it out to the street right after starting it, so it might only wake you up for a minute if you’re a light sleeper. It didn’t bother us at all because we were up early to do fun activities on the island.
This was such a perfect winter getaway! The neighborhood setting meant bird sounds all night long through the open windows. The apartment was cozy and comfortable, and Julie thought of every detail. Well situated to explore the island.
Beautiful property, well-maintained. Julie has incredible attention to detail, and left us some lovely gifts, including coffee to start our day. Owners are available whenever you need them, and very helpful with suggestions and things to do. Had everything we needed for a week, and that backyard just makes the whole experience. Definitely recommend.
Peaceful and beautiful!!! Great location. Lots of extras- cooler, beach chairs etc The outdoor area feels like being in the middle of the jungle, but still at home Will 100% stay here again
Beautifully appointed and maintained with parking and a private entrance. Peaceful and quiet looking across the lawn to a forest. Julie and Darryl were very nice hosts. It was a very comfortable and pleasant stay.
This property was very clean and spacious. Owners went above and beyond to provide special accommodations that really made our stay perfect. 5/5 stars in my book. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat!!!!
The apartment of Julie and Darryl is absolutely perfect. Everything is very clean and cozy and Julie and Darryl provide many little touches and a great hostess gift to make the stay unforgettable. We had a complete beach kit and local specialties like coffee. It is very quiet at night and there is a great garden available where we would have loved to spend the whole day. The apartment has absolutely everything you need and is also very cozy and nicely decorated. Darryl and Julie are very friendly and helpful and made us feel so welcome. We were able to contact them with any questions we had. DearJulie, dear Darryl, You made our stay absolutely perfect. Thank you so much for everything! we would love to come back one day. Mahalo.
