If you are looking for a unique place to stay, come stay at Springhouse 1803. There really is a natural spring under and around the home. The restoration is in the final phases and this beautiful home is ready for life again after sitting empty for 20+ years.
SUMMER 2025 - We are currently scraping, power washing, sanding the exterior of the house between guests in preparation for a new paint job. So, the house might be in various stages of painting.

IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES, THIS IS NOT THE HOUSE FOR YOU. This is a historic colonial house with tight steep stairs and some low doorways and ceilings. Both sets of steps have a corkscrew turn in them. Not recommended for toddlers/young children due to steep steps. Older children should be able to navigate the steps. We are located just outside the city limits but you would never know the city was right around the corner with the solitude of the house. Come sit on the porch and watch the birds and listen to the trickling of water. Sit in the spring room and relax and watch the water bubbling out of the ground. (closed in winter) NOT A PARTY HOUSE, OWNER IS ON SITE
If the house is ready, you can check in at 3pm, please contact me if you wish to check in before 4pm.
If you see blocked days at the beginning and end of a block, you can reach out to confirm if the house is available if you want one of those days. It might be available if the cleaning has already been done.

It was almost like stepping back in time except for the modern conveniences. Beautiful historical property. Next time it will be for more than one night.

Loved the house. We also stayed at the lock keepers cottage a few years ago. Both were great stays. Spring under house was really neat.

Lovely historic atmosphere, cozy, clean, charming. All bedrooms are on 2nd floor, steep narrow stairs might be an issue for some. Minimal privacy, bedrooms only separated by a curtain or a sliding door. But I would come back to stay again and again.

Quiet, clean, comfortable. Yes it’s a very old house, restored, and just what I wanted. I was tracing family roots and this had the charm I was looking for

Loved this historic home located in a peaceful picturesque location yet minutes from so much to see and do. Great opportunity to expose grandkids to how things were 220 years ago and explain significance of a spring house back then. Sitting on the big porch watching birds and kids was a treat for this grandma.

I loved my stay at the Springhouse, originally built in 1803! It’s in a fantastic location, with a park-like yard that feels peaceful and inviting. The outdoor space is a highlight plenty of seating, picnic tables, flowerbeds in bloom, and of course the spring itself, which adds so much charm.Inside, the house is cozy and nostalgic, full of character. The kitchen is well-equipped with a stove and full-size refrigerator, making it easy to cook meals during my stay. The water is wonderfully soft showers were such a treat!Overall, this home is a lovely mix of history, charm, and comfort. I really enjoyed my time here and would happily stay again.

This is a fun home to stay in. Clean and warm. Very unique. Visitors should be aware all bedrooms are upstairs, and the stairs are very steep. This did not negatively affect our family, but there may be some people this would be a concern. We would definitely stay again!

I grew up in the general area and returned to stay two nights because I was visiting relatives. The house and setting are as advertised, but even better. The Spring House has all the important modern comforts and is full of thoughtful touches. Though I didn’t take advantage on this visit, Washington Co., MD and Franklin Co., PA to the north offer stunning countryside and many places to walk or hike.I am a “sandwich generation” caregiver and I rented this property to have alone time in a natural setting, outside of spending time with the family I came to visit. It was perfect for me. It’s 2.5 hours from my home in Pittsburgh, PA, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

My daughter and I stayed at the Springhouse and it was an awesome experience. The house has a ton of character and the property is beautiful even in the winter. We also enjoyed the PA Dutch market which is only a few mins down the road.
