Paonia, Colorado
Our country farmhouse is located on Garvin Mesa within 7 minutes of the town of Paonia. The home is surrounded by many trees and running water making it feel like an oasis. It has two private, comfortable bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other has a queen bed. The contemporary bathroom has a walk-in shower. The full kitchen is well equipped with everything you'll need for food preparation. Outside, you'll find a cooling effect from all the trees blowing in the breeze and water flowing through the streams. For your outdoor relaxation, there are plenty of places to slow down and relax including comfortable chairs and benches. A large area of lawn surrounds the house to help cool things down with the West Elk Mountains providing the perfect backdrop to complete the scene.
One of the outbuildings adjacent to the house once housed the first location of KVNF, Paonia's Community Radio station (1979).
The Paonia area is a great place to bring your bicycles and tour around town or down some of the country lanes. There are many local hiking trails available as well.
Our rental property is adjacent to our lavender farm of around 1200 plants and during May, June and July, we’ll be working in the fields tending to the plants, irrigating and harvesting. We always strive to preserve our guests privacy and peacefulness while we work. We do not operate any machinery while we have guests and we have an open invitation to our guests to come down to the lavender and learn more about lavender on our operating farm.
The end of September brings the annual Mountain Harvest Festival held in the Paonia Park. This festival features music and other entertainment as well as offering local produce and crafts.
The property is located within easy walking distance of the Stone Cottage Winery. Two others, Black Bridge Winery and Azura Winery, are a very short drive from the house.
There are many other wineries and vineyards scattered throughout the North Fork Valley easily accessible by car.
Day trips from the house to places like Crested Butte, the Grand Mesa or the Black Canyon National Park are entirely possible.
This place was beautiful and super convenient from town. Beautiful views with great host.
We loved every part of our stay at this beautiful home. The property is so absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed the wild life especially, and the lavender fields are spectacular as well as the magnificent trees. We loved visiting with Honey the chicken who came to visit us each day. The only drawback is the difficulty in getting in and out of the driveway, but we managed fine.
Almost Heaven, this West Elk VRBO comes with resident chicken “therapists”, (no rooster) visiting flocks of wild turkey, thrumming hummingbirds, apple orchards, fields of lavender and a great winery down the road. Quiet, tranquil and spacious with a great kitchen, it has wonderful views of the West Elks Mt. and the peaceful town of Paonia below, home to The High Country News, an internationally renowned award-winning environmental newspaper since 1969.
A beautiful location to rest and relax! I had a lovely time, and will definitely try to come stay again.
Excellent
This is a lovely property. Lavender, wild turkeys, chickens. Lots of shade, quiet and cool. Amazing views. We would love to stay again.
Good place for relaxing as it is quite and off the beaten path.
The house is very cozy and comfortable, and the views from the property are spectacular (including the night sky, if you are into stargazing at all)! It’s a peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle. The hosts are lovely and make you feel at home. It was a nice break from the front range. Highly recommend!!
Had a great couples weekend! It was a great getaway from Denver had has easy access to wineries and nearby farms!
This was a great place to spend a weekend with family and friends while exploring Paonia. Thanks again!
