Luray, Virginia
Laurel Woodside is a 10 acre secluded property adjacent to the famous Shenandoah National Park. This property offers a rare chance for privacy on a mostly wooded site that provides natural screening from neighbors. Only a five minute drive to shopping and restaurants in downtown Luray, and 10 minutes to the Thornton Gap entrance to Skyline Drive. There are several wineries and a distillery nearby. Also easy access to the Shenandoah River for tubing, canoeing, kayaking or fishing.
This 100+ year old property has been completely renovated while staying true to the farmhouse vernacular. On our property you can enjoy hiking, wildlife viewing, mountain biking and relaxing on the front porch swing. We have a fire pit with plenty of wood available for your use. Guests are welcome to our library of DVDs, board games and books. The fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to cook meals at home.
A great place to stay. The heat was out downstairs when we visited so that was less than ideal but they were very. accommodating and the stay was still a great trip for us. We'd visit again.
We had a terrific long weekend at this farmhouse. The location is ideal, just 10 minutes to the entrance of Shenandoah National Park. The property is very quaint and in great shape, just as shown in the photos. We enjoyed cooking in the well-appointed kitchen, lingering at the large dining table, and watching movies in the cozy living room.
Laura's home was very nice in a great location and equiped with everything we needed loved being in the woods with no neighbors and just a short drive to the Shenandoah national park
Very nice remodeled farm house with pretty much every thing you need. The fire pit was a little further up in the yard than expected, but they had firewood, sticks, and paper. They had a charcoal grill, charcoal, and grillng utensils. We spent 5 nights and only ate out once. We enjoyed hanging out on the covered front porch. Saw deer and turkeys in the back yard. Highly recommend!
We had a nice time. It was clean and well kept. Also well stocked with basic kitchen items. Laura was prompt in communication. Only issue was that there were bugs but that is due to the location and outside atmosphere. It has nothing to do with cleanliness etc.
We could not have picked a more perfect place for our week-long getaway. Getting our big truck and motorcycle trailer up the driveway was the only challenge...one we dealt with without issue, and found ample parking at the top once we got up there. The house was exactly what we needed...we have a soft spot for older houses like this one, having restored an 1860s captain's house some years ago.
Clean, private, well-equipped, and exactly as advertised, all at a reasonable price. Perfect location for people who want to take it easy for a little while.
Photographs and reviews of the property really made our expectations high and reality not only matched but actually exceeded our expectations. Location was perfect for several great hikes, horseback riding, tubing and zip lining. The landscape provided plenty of room for bocce and kickball. We enjoyed the fire ring and it was far enough away from the house to provide great views of the night sky. Deers (including a buck) came daily to eat pears and apples that had fallen from the trees. Seeing the deer and fawns right out the window enchanted our granddaughter. We used the picnic table on the side patio every day for dinner and the front porch was a nice place to read and enjoy the porch swing. The property was nicely removed from the main road by the long driveway and the environment was very peaceful. The kitchen and adjoining dining room provided a nice combination of form and function. The grandkids loved eating their breakfast at the kitchen bar and the counter space and island made cooking very convenient. By the way, if you are looking for the pots and pans, they are stored under the stove ?—we had some difficulty finding them but kitchen is well equipped. We brought our own waffle maker and pancake grill so we had everything we needed. We are crazy about coffee and the coffee maker made it really well. We spent many enjoyable evenings sitting around the huge dining room table playing board games and the space is perfect for that endeavor. The bookcases were stocked with some interesting titles and some good guides for the National Park along with a wonderful wildflower ID book. Decorations were fun and the bedrooms were perfect for the 5 of us. Enjoyed everything and Laura promptly answered all of our queries. This is a no brainer-good value, comfortable, great location and nice people to deal with so easy decision to book a vacation.
This house is clean, has comfortable beds, all the kitchen things needed to cook, lots of games and a good location for hiking.
We had a wonderful time — the house was clean and had everything we needed. Close to hiking off Skyline drive and to Luray for picking up last minute items. Laura was very quick to respond to any questions - would definitely return!
