Three friends, all seniors, had a lovely time at the Taylor House. Easy to find with GPS, access without problems. Felt remote though neighbors not far away. Very quiet rural setting, but 15 min drive to charming downtown Winslow with great shopping and dining. No issues to contact the owner about during our stay. WiFi worked pretty well though cell coverage was spotty. Nice old farmhouse with characteristic features like sloping hardwood floors but updated well-stocked kitchen and bath. Two good sized bedrooms upstairs with a third small room with sloping attic type ceiling and a full bath. Three quarter bath (with shower) just off the kitchen. Several rooms on main floor, all nicely furnished and comfortable. Weather happened to be terrible so we did not use the outdoor space at all. Likely would be lovely in nicer weather. A few little niceties were missing (not a single box of tissues in the house) but others covered like several hooks on the bedroom door.
This was a great little house, comfortable, and has a fun yard.
This gets 4 stars because it is a wonderful property. It’s an old farmhouse which has been completely updated in a respectful modern design. Lots of room here and tons of closets and storage space. Beautiful grounds with tons of blackberries. Unfortunately we had some issues arise, some of which were normal maintenance issues and some of which weren’t. The most notable was that we were given the wrong code for the house and spent a frantic hour trying to reach management. I’ve never had an issue like that before and we were getting a little frantic with 4 bags of fresh groceries at dusk and not a single rental available on the island (we know because VRBO was going to rebook us when they couldn’t reach management). There were 5 issues ranging from the struggle with accessing the place, to toilets that didn’t work right, down to a light fixture that simply needed a new bulb (we didn’t ask for help in that, just thought we were being helpful letting her know). By the 4 th issue, management stopped replying to my texts. Hopefully our visit was a fluke and yours will go smoothly. If it does, you will live the place.
We had a great stay. Kitchen was nicely equipped. And wonderful backyard for kids to run around.
Our stay was wonderful! The house is beautiful and check in was easy. The beds were very comfortable and everything felt clean. The backyard was breathtaking. Would definitely stay here again if we get the chance to return.
Really nice old farmhouse with all the modern amenities. Meredyth was very responsive. The house is well stocked, and very clean. The setting is spacious and quiet. The location is perfect for exploring the southern half of the island. We had a wonderful time, even had a small family reunion party on the deck. This place is a gem!
Our family had a fantastic time staying here over the long weekend. This home was beautiful, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed the spacious layout, both indoors and outdoors, and appreciated the peacefulness away from the city while still being conveniently close to town for exploration. The home and property were clean and well maintained, and we were impressed by the owner's attention to detail. The owner provided a comprehensive list of any pending repairs, ensuring transparency, and a welcome book that answered all of our questions. The level of communication was exceptional. It's worth mentioning in the listing that there is a narrow and steep staircase leading to all the bedrooms on the second floor. While this is not unique to a farmhouse, it may pose a challenge for families with young children or individuals requiring more accessible access to the bedrooms. Overall, our stay was delightful, and we were thoroughly satisfied with our experience. We are already planning our next visit and would highly recommend this property to others.
