Sugar Land is in Fort Bend County, Texas and is part of the Southwestern portion of the Houston – The Woodlands – Sugar Land Metro area. Sugar Land is located around 19 miles Southwest of Downtown Houston. Back in the 19th century Sugar Land was home to an expansive sugar plantation, then in 1908 many of the local plantations were consolidated into the Imperial Sugar Company.
