Background, General Information and Weather in Belleville –
Belleville is located in St. Clair County Illinois. The French meaning of Belleville (Belle Ville) is “Beautiful City.” According to a 2015 Census Bureau report, the population here at that time was just over 42,000. This makes Belleville the the eighth most populated city in the state. It is also the most populated city South of Springfield. Belleville is also the county seat of St. Clair County. This portion of Illinois is also the most populated city in the Metro East region of the St. Louis Metro Area as well as in Southern Illinois. Besides that, Belleville is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belleville as well as the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. According to the United States Census Bureau, Belleville is 23.50 square miles in size with only a small portion of that being water. One of the benefits of living here in Belleville is the close proximity to the “Scott Air Force Base.” At this base you will find defense contractors as well as military and federal civilian personnel. When it comes to the weather here in Belleville it is categorized as “Humid Continental.” This mean that the summers will be hot and muggy and the winters will be very cold and often times, windy. The cold season here lasts for exactly three months. From November 28th until February 28th the daily average high is just around 50 degrees. The average low for this time half the high coming it at just about 25 degrees. The hot season here goes for nearly four months. From the end of May until almost the end of September the daily average high is just about 80 degrees. The low for this time is just about 70 degrees. There are instances when the weather in the winter has dropped to a freezing cold 9 degrees but that is not a very common occurrence. During the summer months the temperature has been known to creep up to 96 degrees, but again, this does not happen very often. Most time when a heat wave occurs is when you will see the temperature spike here. You can also expect to see about 42 inches of rain per year here as well as about 13 inches of snow. The average snowfall in the United States is about 26 inches so living here in Belleville offers up substantially less snowfall than in other areas of the country.
Annual Events –

A Santa Claus Parade in November, a Gingerbread Walk in December and something called “Christkindlmarkt” which starts the day after Thanksgiving and goes until the day before Christmas Eve. During the summer there is a Memorial Day Parade as well as the “Tour de Belleville” which takes place here in July. The events and festivals are reason enough to move here to Belleville!

The main ones that are worth mentioning are “Autumn Woods,” “Wyndrose Estates,” “Oak Hill,” “Oak Hill Estates,” “Highland Hills,” “Brookhill Estates,” “Green Mount Manor,” and “Persimmon Ridge.” All of these subdivisions have something different to offer potential homebuyers. Some areas have land for sale for you to develop you own home on while others have brand new homes with more than enough room for a growing family. There are also homes found within a lot of these subdivisions that are slightly older but very well maintained. A majority of these homes are very affordably priced.
